Malvika Wanem subba (Limbu) (Nepali : माल्बिका वनेम सुब्बा (लिम्बु)) is a Nepalese television personality, entrepreneur, model, social activist and beauty pageant title holder who was crowned Miss Nepal 2002 . [2] She graduated from Pokhara University with Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism. [3]

Career

At the age of 21, Malvika was crowned as Miss Nepal 2002, ever since then she has worked for Call Kantipur as a TV host in Kantipur Television. [4] In 2008, she worked for Voice of India, MTV EXIT as the Ambassador for Human Trafficking [5] Subba has also been associated with Youth SpokesPerson for Action Aid's Hunger-Free Campaign, [6] HIV/AIDS Youth Leader by UNICEF and worked with Shangrila Housing as Sales and Marketing Manager in 2009–2011. [7]

In 2008, she has acted in movies and dramas like God Lives in The Himalayas, [8] [9] Good Bye Kathmandu and Hamri Shiwani.

From April to October 2011, she worked as the chief editor for one of Nepal's leading fashion and lifestyle magazine, Navyaata. [10] [11] In 2011, Subba established her own retail clothing store with in-house designers. She is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of House of Alternative Apparel also known as HAA [12] and Himalayan Climate Initiative(HCI).

From 2015, she is the host and head judge of Mega Model which is now at its third season.[ citation needed ]

Controversy

In May 2022, a freelance makeup artist alleged that she had been repeatedly raped by a pageant organizer when she was 16 in 2014. She also alleged that she had told Subba about the ordeal at the time but Subba had refused to hear her out and dismissed her claims. [13] Subba was criticized for publicly hosting events around feminism and women's rights while ignoring the plight of a victim. [14] She later issued an apology and pledged to step away from such public platforms for the near future. [15]

<i>The Voice of Nepal</i> Nepalese reality television series

The Voice of Nepal is a Nepalese reality show and the Nepalese format of the international TV singing reality series called The Voice. The show usually has four different coaches (judges), who eventually form four different teams after the selection event called the Blind Audition. Each team has to go through the battle round where contestants are paired with one another within the same team and only half of the total selected contestants from the blind audition are selected for the knockout round. During the knockout round, based on The Voice format, only the best and strongest contestants who their respective coach consider the best overall are selected by their coaches. They also have the sole right to do this on his or her own and take them to the live round. During the live round event, through a series of voting episodes, only one contestant with the most popular vote will advance to the grand finale. The first season of the voice of Nepal was won by CD Vijaya Adhikari from Team Deep, season 2 was won by Ram Limbu from Team Pramod and season 3 was won by Kiran Gajmer from Team Pramod. The Grand Finale of season 1 was held on 14 December 2018 in Quatar stadium, the second season's Grand finale was held at Taragaon Open Field Chuchchepati Kathmandu on 7 December 2019 and the third season's Grand Finale was held in The Voice Studio, Dhumbarahi. The voice of Nepal was bought by Himalaya Television.

Pashupati Sharma is a Nepalese folk singer born on 31 October 1982 in Putalibazar Municipality Ward Number 3 of Syangja District, Nepal. Sharma moved to Kathmandu on 2003 for his further studies, as he was interested in singing. He started singing in Saptakoshi Dohori Sanjh and released his first official song on 2003. Sharma has already sung more than 200 songs during his career. His songs revolves around patriotism, love and satire. One of his latest satire song Lutna Sake Lut was recently forced to remove from YouTube. He is the living legend of folk music industry of Nepal. In 2018 he released song "Chhata harayo" with Devi Gharti Magar.
