Kantipur Television, popularly known as Kantipur TV HD or KTV, is a private television station based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The chairman and managing director is Kailash Sirohiya. The CEO of Kantipur Television is Shishir Pachhai. Launched on 13 July 2003, KTV is licensed for terrestrial and satellite broadcasting. It initially only broadcast in the Kathmandu Valley terrestrially, but later expanded to other parts of Nepal after it began broadcasting on satellite television. [2] Kantipur Television is headquartered in Subidhanagar, Kathmandu. [1]

History

In December 2012, the Intelligence Bureau of India flagged Kantipur Television as a "hate channel" allegedly broadcasting anti-India programming. It was one of the twenty-four "illegal" channels to have been flagged. [3] Kantipur Television launched a sister channel, Kantipur Gold, on 19 February 2015. [4] This was in occasion to the 22nd anniversary of Kantipur Publications [5] . [6] The channel later commenced formal broadcasts on 18 September 2015. [7] The channel, however, was shut down in December 2016.[ citation needed ]

The network started broadcasting in HD on 14 December 2017. [2] [8] On 19 March 2021, Kantipur Television launched Kantipur Cineplex HD, a new television station in Nepal focusing on movie broadcasting in association with Highlights Nepal, the largest movie distributor and digital partner in Nepal. Kantipur Cineplex HD has now been renamed Kantipur Max HD.[ citation needed ]

Kailash Sirohiya is the current chairman of the company while his son, Sambhav Sirohiya, is the managing director.

Kantipur is a Nepali language daily newspaper, published from Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, and Bharatpur of Nepal simultaneously. It was founded by Shyam Goenka. Kantipur's publishers report that the circulation of this newspaper is just above 453,000 copies per day. It is regarded as the most widely read newspaper in Nepal; according to an audience survey in 2016, over half of those who read newspapers in Nepal were readers of Kantipur, considerably more than any other newspapers. Kantipur is considered the paper of record in Nepal.

KTV Ltd. is a DVB-T SD and HD encrypted UHF TV and radio service operating in Stanley, capital of the Falkland Islands, and also in part of the Camp. The charge for receiving the service of up to 56 TV and radio channels is from £36 per month. Founded in 1980 by Sharon and Mario Zuvic Bulic, KTV Ltd. receives channels from the UK, the US, Saint Helena Island and Chile and rebroadcasts them to subscribers in the Falkland Islands. Suraj Singh Thakuri is a television presenter, actor, director and producer. He was a Chief Executive Producer in Kantipur Television Network. He is best known as the host of the longest running Nepali television talk show Call Kantipur which airs daily on Kantipur Television. After 10 years of running Call Kantipur, he handed the show over to younger talents like Suraj Giri, Akesha Bista and Riju Shrestha. He has directed several music videos, also appearing in some.

Eska TV is a free-to-air 24-hour Polish language music channel launched on August 8, 2008, in Poland. In the beginning the channel was only on the Internet.
