MEGA Channel, also known as MEGA TV or just MEGA, is a television network in Greece, that broadcasts a mix of foreign and Greek programming. It is the first and the oldest private television network in Greece.
Giorgos Alkaios is a Greek recording artist. His career began in 1989 after appearing on a Greek reality show. Following a brief period of stage acting, Alkaios dedicated himself to music. His first single, "Ti Ti", made him popular in Greece. His distinctive musical style fuses Greek and Oriental elements with modern pop music. To date he has been certified with 5 platinum and 9 gold albums. Alkaios represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "OPA", and placed 8th in the Final.
Grigoris Arnaoutoglou is a well-known Greek television host. He is known for hosting morning daily entertaining show, Omorfos Kosmos To Proi as well as Sunday show Pio Poli Tin Kiriaki on Mega Channel. Today he is hosting The 2night Show, a talk show Ekatomyriouhos, on ANT1.
Marietta Chrousala is a Greek model, entrepreneur former television presenter and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Star Hellas 2003 and represented her country at Miss Universe 2003 pageant where she placed Top 15.
Greece participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Yassou Maria", written by Alex Papaconstantinou, Marcus Englöf and Markus Sepehrmanesh. The song was performed by Sarbel. To select their entry for the 2007 contest, which took place in Helsinki, Finland, Greek national television broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) organised the national final Eurovision 2007 which took place on 28 February 2007. The event saw three acts—Sarbel, Tamta and Christos Dantis—compete to be the Greek representative.
Sotis Volanis is a Greek singer. He was born in Akrolimni, Pella, Greece.
Phoebus, sometimes spelled Phivos or Foivos, is a well-known songwriter in both Greece and Cyprus. Phoebus is mostly known for his music through Despina Vandi and Katy Garbi, although he has composed albums for many other artists in Greece and Cyprus. A high percentage of the albums he composes receive certification making him one of the most successful Greek songwriters of the 1990s and 2000s, selling 6,000,000 records. In 2009, he founded his own record label, The Spicy Effect, to which he has signed various artists, many of whom he has collaborated with in the past.
Doukissa Nomikou is a Greek TV host, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Star Hellas 2007 and represented her country at the Miss Universe 2007 pageant in Mexico.
Natalia Germanou is a Greek songwriter, television hostess, radio producer and journalist.
Filippos Pliatsikas is a Greek musician, composer and lyricist. He was the main composer, lyricist, and lead singer of the Entekhno rock group Pyx Lax and now a solo artist.
Ποιος θέλει να γίνει εκατομμυριούχος is a game show based on the British Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? format debuted in 1999 on Mega Channel. The player had to answer 15 questions correctly in order to win ₯50 million up to 2001, €150,000 up to 2004, and €250,000 in 2006. In 2010, the show was chosen as the most popular game show in 20 years of Mega Channel program. From 1999 to 2004 the show was hosted by Spiros Papadopoulos, and in 2006 - by Thodoris Atheridis. There were three lifelines - fifty-fifty (50:50), phone a friend and ask the audience, but in 2006, the "switch the question" lifeline was added, but if a contestant wanted to use it, he had to give up one of his other lifelines. The show was broadcast from 1999 to 2002 on Mega Channel, from 2002 to 2004 on the ERT channels and in 2006 on Alpha TV.
Ellada Eheis Talento is a Greek reality television series and is part of the Got Talent multinational franchise. It premiered in Greece for the first time on 23 March 2007 and ended after 4 seasons on 25 June 2012 on the ANT1. On 1 October 2017 the show came back with the fifth season and for the first time from Skai TV, ended after 2 seasons on 16 December 2018. On 8 January 2022 the show returned again on ANT1.
Dancing with the Stars is a Greek dance competition television series that premiered on March 28, 2010, on ANT1 and filmed live in Athens. The show aired until February 1, 2015, on ANT1. On January 26, 2018 ANT1 premiered the sixth season and aired until May 4, 2018. The show returned from Star Channel. The show is based on the British BBC Television series Strictly Come Dancing and is part of BBC Worldwide's Dancing with the Stars franchise. The theme song is "It's personal" performed by Swedish indie pop band The Radio Dept.
PMPC Star Awards for Television is an annual award-giving body recognizing the outstanding programming produced by the several TV networks in the Philippines.
Survivor Greece is the Greek version of the popular reality show Survivor.
Your Face Sounds Familiar is a Greek reality show airing on ANT1. The fourth season started on April 23, 2017. The contestants are evaluated by the show's judges, the audience and the other contestants. The contestant who gathers the highest score in each live, is able to donate the money that is collected from the audience's voting to a charity of their choice. In Cyprus, the money were given to "Pankypria Organosi Tyflon" organization every week.
Georgios Evlampios (Akis) Petretzikis is a Greek celebrity chef. He is the CEO of Akis Petretzikis Ltd, which publishes cooking magazines and books, produces cooking shows, runs restaurants, and has an e-shop with various kitchen products designed by himself.
