Manuel Cornu is a French sport climber. [1] [2] [3] He participated at the 2016 and 2021 IFSC Climbing World Championships, [4] being awarded two bronze medals and a silver medal in the men's bouldering and men's combined events. [5]
Competition climbing is a form of regulated rock climbing competition held indoors on purpose-built artificial climbing walls. The three standalone competition climbing disciplines are: lead climbing, bouldering, and speed climbing. A fourth discipline of "combined" is based on results in the three main disciplines. Competition climbing is sometimes called "sport climbing", which is the type of lead climbing performed in competition climbing.
The IFSC Climbing World Championships are the biennial world championship event for competition climbing that is organized by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC). This event determines the male and female world champions in the three disciplines of sport climbing: lead climbing, bouldering, and speed climbing. Since 2012, a Combined ranking is also determined, for climbers competing in all disciplines, and additional medals are awarded based on that ranking. The first event was organized in Frankfurt in 1991.
Shauna Coxsey is an English professional rock climber. She is the most successful competition climber in the UK, having won the IFSC Bouldering World Cup Season in both 2016 and 2017. She retired from competition climbing after competing in the 2020 Olympics.
Janja Garnbret is a Slovenian professional rock climber who specializes in sport climbing and competition climbing, and who has won multiple competition lead climbing and competition bouldering events. In 2021, she became the first-ever female Olympic gold medalist in climbing and is widely regarded as one of the greatest competition climbers of all time. She is also the world's first-ever female climber to onsight an 8c (5.14b) graded sport climbing route. As of the end of 2022, Garnbret had won the most IFSC gold medals of any competition climber in history.
Competition climbing made its Olympic debut at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Two events were held, one each for men and women. The format controversially consisted of one combined event with three disciplines: lead climbing, speed climbing and bouldering. The medals were determined based on best performance across all three disciplines. This format was previously tested at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. The Olympic code for sports climbing is CLB.
Stefano Ghisolfi is an Italian professional rock climber, who specializes in competition climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering. In competition climbing, he completes in competition lead climbing, competition bouldering, and competition speed climbing, with lead being his strongest discipline. As a sport climber, he has redpointed sport climbing routes of grade 9b+ (5.15c), onsighted routes of 8c (5.14b), and solved boulder problems at grade 8B+ (V14). In December 2018, after climbing Perfecto Mundo, he became the fourth climber in history to redpoint a 9b+ (5.15c) route.

Muriel Sarkany is a Belgian professional rock climber. She is known for winning five Climbing World Cups. She also climbs outdoors, and is considered the fourth-ever female climber in history to climb a 9a (5.14d)-graded route.

She has won Japan Cup titles in both bouldering and lead disciplines, and has multiple IFSC Climbing World Cup podium finishes, including three gold medals in World Cup events in 2022. At the 2023 IFSC Climbing World Championships, she wins the gold medal in lead.
Sean Bailey is an American professional rock climber, who specializes in competition climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering. He has represented the United States in the IFSC Climbing World Cup in lead climbing, and has two podium finishes in bouldering at individual legs of the World Cup, including a win at the Salt Lake City leg of the 2021 World Cup.1 and three in lead climbing, including two gold medals, at the Villars leg, and Chamonix leg, in July 2021.
Veddriq Leonardo is an Indonesian speed climber. He currently holds the world record for the discipline at 4.902 seconds, accomplished in the 2023 IFSC Climbing World Cup in Seoul. He previously held the speed climbing world record around 2021 for about a year, which he set en route to winning the men's speed climbing event at the 2021 IFSC Climbing World Cup in Salt Lake City.
Yoshiyuki Ogata is a Japanese professional sport climber and boulderer. He has won multiple medals in bouldering at IFSC Climbing World Cup events, including gold medals at Vail in 2019 and at Innsbruck in 2021. Ogata won the overall IFSC Men's Bouldering title for the 2021 and 2022 seasons and finished third overall in 2019.
Noah Bratschi is an American professional rock climber who specializes in competitive speed climbing and represents the United States at IFSC Climbing World Cups. He won the bronze medal at the 2021 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Championship in Moscow, Russia. With this accomplishment he became the first American speed climber to win a World Championship medal in thirty years, and with that, he also became the first American to ever win a medal on the modern IFSC homologated speed climbing wall.
Fedir Samoilov is a Ukrainian sport climber. He participated at the 2021 IFSC Climbing World Championships, being awarded the bronze medal in the men's combined event. Samoilov was one of the finalists at the World University Sport Climbing Championships in 2018.
Elnaz Rekabi is an Iranian sport climber. She participated at the 2021 IFSC Climbing World Championships, being awarded the bronze medal in the women's combined event. Rekabi has also finished on the podium three times at the IFSC Climbing Asian Championships, with one silver and two bronze medals.
Kiromal Katibin is an Indonesian sport climber specializing in speed climbing. He was the world record holder in speed climbing, with a time of 5.009 seconds recorded at 2022 IFSC Climbing World Cup in Chamonix, France in July 2022, until it was broken by his compatriot Veddriq Leonardo in April 2023. He finished second overall in the men's speed category during the 2021 IFSC Climbing World Cup series. Katibin also has four career IFSC Climbing World Cup medals, all in speed.
Emma Hunt is an American sport climber specializing in speed climbing, and holds the American women's speed record with 6.84 seconds, set at the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Edinburgh in September 2022.
Mejdi Schalck is a French sport climber. He won the bronze medal in the men's lead event at the 2022 World Games. Schalck also competed at the 2022 European Championships in the multi-sport tournament of the 2022 IFSC Climbing European Championships, finishing 4th the men's boulder event and 15th in the men's lead.
