Operations research, often shortened to the initialism OR, is a discipline that deals with the development and application of analytical methods to improve decision-making. It is considered to be a subfield of mathematical sciences. The term management science is occasionally used as a synonym.

Analytics is the systematic computational analysis of data or statistics. It is used for the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data. It also entails applying data patterns toward effective decision-making. It can be valuable in areas rich with recorded information; analytics relies on the simultaneous application of statistics, computer programming, and operations research to quantify performance.

Cell is a peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing research papers across a broad range of disciplines within the life sciences. Information Systems Research is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal that covers research in the areas of information systems and information technology, including cognitive psychology, economics, computer science, operations research, design science, organization theory and behavior, sociology, and strategic management. It is published by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences and was in 2007 ranked as one of the most prestigious journals in the information systems discipline. In 2008 it was selected as one of the top 20 professional/academic journals by Bloomberg Businessweek. The current editor-in-chief is Suprateek Sarker, who was preceded by Alok Gupta, Ritu Agarwal, Vallabh Sambamurthy, Chris F. Kemerer (2002-2004), Izak Benbasat (1999-2001), John Leslie King (1993-1998), and E. Burton Swanson (1990-1992). According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2018 impact factor of 2.457. The journal is member of the Senior Scholar's 'Basket of Eight'.

Ekaterini Panagiotou Sycara is a Greek computer scientist. She is an Edward Fredkin Research Professor of Robotics in the Robotics Institute, School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University internationally known for her research in artificial intelligence, particularly in the fields of negotiation, autonomous agents and multi-agent systems. She directs the Advanced Agent-Robotics Technology Lab at Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. She also serves as academic advisor for PhD students at both Robotics Institute and Tepper School of Business.

Mathematics of Operations Research is a quarterly peer-reviewed scientific journal established in February 1976. It focuses on areas of mathematics relevant to the field of operations research such as continuous optimization, discrete optimization, game theory, machine learning, simulation methodology, and stochastic models. The journal is published by INFORMS. the journal has a 2017 impact factor of 1.078.

Georgia Perakis is a Greek-American operations researcher and the William F. Pounds Professor of Operations Research and Operations Management at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her research is primarily in the areas of dynamic pricing, revenue management and inventory control. In 2016, she was elected as a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), in recognition of her lifetime achievement in "variational inequalities, the price of anarchy, dynamic pricing and data analytics," and her "dedicated mentorship of a future generation of OR scholars."

Laura Albert is a professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the College of Engineering. Albert is an expert in Operations Research, specializing solving and modeling discrete optimization problems arising from applications in homeland security, disaster management, emergency response, public services, and healthcare.

David Simchi-Levi is an American academic working as a Professor of Engineering Systems at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also the founder or co-founder of several companies. Simchi-Levi's research focuses on supply chain management, revenue management, and business analytics.

Cynthia Diane Rudin is an American computer scientist and statistician specializing in machine learning and known for her work in interpretable machine learning. She is the director of the Interpretable Machine Learning Lab at Duke University, where she is a professor of computer science, electrical and computer engineering, statistical science, and biostatistics and bioinformatics. In 2022, she won the Squirrel AI Award for Artificial Intelligence for the Benefit of Humanity from the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) for her work on the importance of transparency for AI systems in high-risk domains.

He is best known for his work on supply chain management, supply chain finance, operational excellence, and risk management.

The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) is an international professional society for academics and practitioners with interests in production operations, operations management, and supply chain management. The society was established in 1989 by Kalyan Singhal, of Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore, in collaboration with three hundred professionals from the operations management field.

The Flexible Services and Manufacturing Journal is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Springer Science+Business Media. The journal was originally published under the title "International Journal of Flexible Manufacturing Systems" and Kathryn Stecke was the founding Editor-in-Chief. The journal publishes research in the field of services and manufacturing management. He is most known for his research in the areas of production systems, supply chain management, and operations management. He served as the vice president of academic affairs, dean of College of Administrative Sciences and Economics and Director of Graduate School of Business at Koç University.
