Biography
Botsford graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Barnard College in 1969. At Barnard,she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She earned her J.D. degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 1973. She later earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2007.
Upon graduating law school in 1973,Botsford served as a law clerk to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Justice Francis J. Quirico. She subsequently served as an Assistant Attorney General under Attorney General Francis X. Bellotti for four years. She later served as an assistant district attorney in the office of Middlesex County District Attorney Scott Harshbarger for six years.
Botsford practiced law in the private sector as an associate at the firm of Hill &Barlow for one year before going on to serve as a partner at Rosenfeld,Botsford &Krokidas,a Boston law firm,for three years.
In 1989,Botsford was appointed as an associate justice of the Superior Court,where she served for eighteen years until her appointment to the Supreme Judicial Court after the death of Justice Martha B. Sosman.
Botsford has also taught at the Northeastern University School of Law,Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Boston University Law School,the National Judicial College,and the Flaschner Judicial Institute.

He was nominated for Chief Justice by Governor Deval Patrick on November 4, 2010, and sworn in on December 20. He retired from service on the court on July 25, 2014.
Douglas L. Combs is an associate justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. He was appointed by Governor Brad Henry to the Oklahoma Supreme Court, effective January 1, 2011, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Rudolph Hargrave. Combs was selected to become Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, effective December 1, 2016 and served until December 31, 2018.
Fernande R. V. Duffly is an American lawyer and jurist from Massachusetts. She was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick in December 2010 to serve as an associate justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Patrick nominated her following the elevation of Roderick L. Ireland as Chief Justice on the court. Her nomination was confirmed 4-3 by the Governor's Council on January 26, 2011. She was sworn in on February 1, 2011. She is the first Asian American to serve on the court. She retired on July 12, 2016.
Ralph D. Gants was an American attorney and jurist who served as the chief justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He was sworn in on July 28, 2014. Gants had previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney.

She was nominated in July 2014 by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and confirmed by an 8–0 vote of the Governor's Council. She succeeded Ralph D. Gants, who was promoted to chief justice.
