Mario Keith Bowleg is a Bahamian Progressive Liberal Party politician,who has been Minister of Sports Youth and Culture and the Member of Parliament for Garden Hills since 2021.
Before entering politics,Bowleg,had a 25-year career in banking,ultimately finishing his career as the Assistant Branch Manager of Commonwealth Bank. Bowleg was also a coach and mentor and the President of the Bahamas Basketball Federation. He has been acclaimed as a ‘National Champion’,and ‘Coach of the Year’. [1]
Bowleg was announced as the PLP candidate for Garden Hills in February 2021. [2] He defeated the FNM candidate and businessman Stephen Greenslade,flipping the seat. [3] [4]
After being elected,Prime Minister Philip "Brave" Davis appointed Bowleg as the Minister of Youth Sports and Culture. [5] He is responsible for driving youth development,sports,and cultural initiatives in the Bahamas. As minister,Bowleg relaunched the Fresh Start Program in Grand Bahama,providing training and job readiness skills to young people. [6]
