Markt Schwaben station is a railway station on the Munich S-Bahn in the municipality of Markt Schwaben in the northeast area of Munich, Germany. It is served by the S-Bahn line S2.

History

The Munich–Mühldorf railway was taken in operation on 1 May 1871. [5] Subsequently, the municipality of Erding also tried for a railway connection, this could be opened on 16 November 1872. [6] In 1970, the Markt Schwaben–Erding railway and Munich–Mühldorf railway (Munich-Markt Schwaben section) was electrified to introduce a S-Bahn operation on these lines. In 1972, with the establishment of the Munich S-Bahn system, Markt Schwaben was better connected, including by the connection to Munich through the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund. [7]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mühldorf–Pilsting railway</span>

The Mühldorf–Pilsting railway runs mainly through the province of Lower Bavaria in Germany, but part of the line crosses into Upper Bavaria as well. It was opened in 1875 by the Bavarian Eastern Railway Company as part of the route between Mühldorf and Plattling, and was taken over by the Royal Bavarian State Railways on 1 January 1876. Whilst the southern section of the route from Mühldorf to Neumarkt-Sankt Veit became an important regional transport link as a result of the branches to Landshut and Passau at Neumarkt-Sankt Veit, the remaining section of the line never achieved its expected significance. Since 1970 only goods trains have worked between Neumarkt-Sankt Veit and Frontenhausen-Marklkofen, the adjoining section to Pilsting was closed entirely in 1969.

Munich-Berg am Laim station is a stop on the Munich S-Bahn in the district of Berg am Laim in the Bavarian state capital of Munich. The station is served daily from about 300 services of the Munich S-Bahn each day and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. It has two platforms tracks and lies on the Munich–Rosenheim railway and the Munich–Mühldorf railway.

The Munich–Mühldorf railway is a 74 .8 km long main line in the German state of Bavaria, which opened on 1 May 1871. It runs from Munich East station via Markt Schwaben and Dorfen to Mühldorf. The travel time between Munich East and Mühldorf is currently about an hour.

Mühldorf (Oberbayern) station is a railway junction and station in the district town of Mühldorf in the German state of Bavaria. The station has seven platform tracks and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station is served by 105 passenger trains each day operated by the Südostbayernbahn and frequented by about 10,000 travellers. It is also the central station of the “Bavarian Chemical Triangle”. About 800 freight wagons are dispatched from it daily.

The Dachau–Altomünster railway, also called the Bummerl, Bockerl or Ludwig Thoma Railway, is a railway in the German state of Bavaria. It is part of the Munich S-Bahn network and is integrated within the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund as line S2. The branch line connects the town of Dachau on the Nuremberg–Munich high-speed railway with Altomünster. Markt Indersdorf is an important stop. Until its electrification in 2014, it was the only non-electrified line of the Munich S-Bahn and was designated as line A.
