Mary L. Easley served as the Oklahoma Senator representing District 18,which includes Mayes,Tulsa and Wagoner counties from her win in a special election in 2004 until 2010. She previously served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1996 through 2004,representing District 78. [1]
Mary L. Easley was born in Cassville,Missouri,where her parents were farmers. She grew up around the majority of her extended family and has fond memories of being raised in rural Missouri. After high school,Easley attended Southwest Baptist University. She met her husband,Truman,and moved to Wichita,Kansas,with him for his job at Boeing Aircraft. Easley completed her undergraduate degree at Friends University as well as began to work on her master's. [2] For about a year,she worked on her degree while teaching. After that year Easley went to Wichita State. Her first teaching position was in Valley Center,Kansas.
In 1967,the couple moved to Tulsa,Oklahoma. Easley began teaching in Owasso,Oklahoma and remained there for 24 more years. Easley taught English at Owasso High School. [3]
Toward the end of her teaching career,Easley's son Kevin was a state senator. This started to inspire Easley to become involved with politics in order to attempt to pass legislation that she was concerned about. Soon Easley decided to retire from education and begin campaigning. Her campaign slogan was the same one her son used:"Easley the Best Choice." Easley was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1997. It was the first time that a mother and son served simultaneously,though Kevin was in the Senate at the time. [3] She served until 2004,when she took her son Kevin's Oklahoma Senate seat.
Kevin decided to leave office to pursue a different career and convinced his mother,Mary Easley,to run for his vacated seat. [4] Easley worked on passing several bills concerned with education during her terms in the Senate. She authored the Autism Insurance Bill,which did not pass. The bill would essentially help to provide insurance for families struggling with an autistic child. Easley was especially dedicated to bettering the education of children with disabilities. [5]
Mary Fallin is an American politician who served as the 27th governor of Oklahoma from 2011 to 2019. A member of the Republican Party,she was elected in 2010 and reelected in 2014. She is the first and only woman to be elected governor of Oklahoma. She was the first woman to represent Oklahoma in Congress since Alice Mary Robertson left office in 1923.

Nancy C. Riley represented Oklahoma State Senate District 37 which is located in Tulsa County and includes Bixby,Jenks,Lotsee,Tulsa and Sand Springs from 2000 to 2008. Riley grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Edison High School. She attended Oklahoma Christian College for three years,then married and started a family. Riley's first husband died from a brain tumor. During that time,Riley was forced to live on food stamps. She later graduated from Langston University,and began teaching elementary school in the Tulsa Public Schools system.
Debbe Leftwich is a politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Leftwich was a member of the Oklahoma Senate from 2003 until 2010. She won the vacant seat through a special election after the death of her husband and former senator Keith Leftwich. She was a key figure in the 2010 Oklahoma political corruption investigation for her role in a bribery scheme in which she was accused of agreeing to not run for re-election in 2010 in exchange for a state job with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME).

In April 2015,he was elected as chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party.

Penny Baldwin Williams was an American Democratic Party politician from Oklahoma. Williams served as a legislator in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1981 to 1988,representing District 70. She later was elected to the Oklahoma Senate,representing District 33,from 1989 to 2004. Senator Williams authored important bills on education during her time in the legislature,including the historic education reform act. Williams also authored a series of bills to strengthen math and science,and the bill creating the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics. A supporter of the arts,Williams influenced art education in public schools,and was instrumental in the creation of the Art in Public Places Act.
Carolyn Thompson Taylor is an American academic and politician who served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1984 to 1992. Before running for office,Taylor taught AP government at Norman High School from 1979 to 1984.
