The 1960 Winter Olympics was a winter multi-sport event held from February 18 to February 29, 1960, in Squaw Valley, California, United States. The resort was chosen to host the Games at the 1956 meeting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Squaw Valley was an undeveloped resort in 1955, so the infrastructure and all of the venues were built at a cost of US$80 million between 1956 and 1960. The layout was designed to be intimate, allowing spectators and competitors to reach most of the venues on foot.
The biathlon competition at the 1994 Winter Olympics were held at the Birkebeineren Ski Stadium. The events were held between 18 and 26 February 1994.
Odd Lirhus is a former Norwegian biathlete. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo he won a silver medal in the relay. He also won a gold medal in the 20 km individual at the 1978 Biathlon World Championship. In addition, he won the 20 km individual in Falun in the 1983–84 season.

She won a gold medal in the 4×6 km relay and a silver medal in the mass start competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics, three gold medals in the pursuit, individual, and mass start competitions at the 2014 Winter Olympics, and a bronze medal in the individual competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She was a Biathlon World Cup overall winner for the 2014–15 season.
Sally Rose Eastall is an English former long-distance runner. She competed in the marathon at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo. She ran her best time for the marathon of 2:29:29 when winning the 1991 California International Marathon.
Brazil sent a delegation to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, held from 12–28 February 2010. The Brazilian team consisted of five athletes competing in three sports.
Michael Dixon, is a Scottish cross-country skier and biathlete. He has represented Great Britain at six Olympic Games in cross-country skiing and biathlon. He is only the seventh athlete from any country to have competed at six Winter Games and is one of fewer than fifty athletes to have competed in at least six Olympic Games.
Vita Semerenko is a Ukrainian biathlete. She is Olympic champion in women's relay, Olympic medalist and multiple World championships medalist. She is one of the most successful Ukrainian winter athletes.

The rate of participation of women in the Olympic Games has been increasing since their first participation in 1900. Some sports are uniquely for women, others are contested by both sexes, while some older sports remain for men only. Studies of media coverage of the Olympics consistently show differences in the ways in which women and men are described and the ways in which their performances are discussed. The representation of women on the International Olympic Committee has run well behind the rate of female participation, and it continues to miss its target of a 20% minimum presence of women on their committee.
Nadiya Billova is a Ukrainian former biathlete and biathlon coach. She competed in the women's individual event at the 1994 Winter Olympics. She also previously competed at the 1986 Biathlon World Championships for the Soviet Union, where she was part of the gold medal-winning Soviet women's relay team, and also took the silver in the sprint competition. After retiring from competition she embarked on a career as a coach, becoming one of the few female biathlon coaches working at the elite level: she has had spells coaching the Ukrainian women's and men's teams, as well as the Polish women's team. During her time with the Ukrainian women's team she coached the squad alongside her husband, Roman Bondaruk. She was named the Polish Olympic Committee's Coach of the Year in 2006 and coached the Ukrainian women's team to success at the 2014 Winter Olympics, where they took the gold medal in the relay and Vita Semerenko also took the bronze in the sprint. In May 2019 the Polish Biathlon Association announced that Billova had been forced to leave her role as the Polish women's team coach after a year due to health reasons.
Halina Jolanta Nowak-Guńka is a Polish biathlete and cross-country skier. She competed in the biathlon at the 1998 Winter Olympics and the cross-country skiing at the 1992 Winter Olympics and the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Zsolt Kovács is a Hungarian biathlete. He competed at the 1984 Winter Olympics and the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Jiří Holubec is a Czech biathlete. He competed at the 1988, 1992, 1994 and the 1998 Winter Olympics. After retiring from competition he became a coach, serving as an assistant coach to the Czech women's biathlon team.
Jean-Marc Chabloz is a Swiss biathlete. He competed at the 1992, 1994, 1998 and the 2002 Winter Olympics. In 2020, he was coaching Stina Nilsson.
