Matthew David Johnson, commonly known as Matty J, is an Australian television personality.

Career

In 2016, Johnson first appeared on season 2 of The Bachelorette Australia where he ended as the runner-up. In 2017, Johnson then appeared on season 5 of The Bachelor Australia where he chose Laura Byrne as the winner and Elise Stacy as the runner-up. [1]

In 2019, Johnson co-hosted Luxury Escapes, alongside Sophie Falkiner. [2]

In 2021, Johnson competed in the eighteenth season of the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars , where he was partnered with Ruby Gherbaz. He was eliminated sixth from the contest.

Personal life

Johnson married Laura Byrne in Mollymook, New South Wales on 11 November 2022. [3] They have two daughters named Marlie-Mae (born 20 June 2019) and Lola (born 4 February 2021). [4] [5]

Crown Australian Celebrity Poker Challenge is an Australian celebrity game show produced by Foxtel, which premiered 5 January 2006 on Australian pay TV channel FOX8. The limited run, 10-part series consisted of 36 Australian celebrities, all playing No Limit Texas Hold 'em poker, for the chance to win up to $50,000 in prize money, and $50,000 for their nominated charity. Johnson previously appeared on the second season of The Bachelorette Australia featuring Georgia Love, where he was the runner-up.

Bachelor in Paradise Australia is an Australian elimination-style reality competition television series which is an adaptation of the U.S. series of the same name. It is a spin-off of The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia and features previous contestants who have been featured on those shows. The programme is hosted by Osher Günsberg and first premiered on Network Ten on 25 March 2018.

Laura Byrne is an Australian radio host, podcaster, television personality and writer who was the winner of the fifth season of Network 10's The Bachelor Australia. She currently hosts the drive radio show The Pick Up on the KIIS Network alongside Brittany Hockley and Mitch Churi, and also co-hosts the Life Uncut Podcast with Brittany Hockley.
