The August Prize is an annual Swedish literary prize awarded each year since 1989 by the Swedish Publishers' Association. The prize is awarded to the best Swedish book of the year, in three categories. The Swedish Publishers' Association also awards the Young August Prize to youth and young adults.
Gunnar Broberg was professor in History of Science and Ideas at Lund University, Sweden, appointed in 1990. Broberg has written about the compulsory sterilization activities in Sweden and extensively about the scientist Carl Linnaeus. In 2005 he was elected Chair of the Royal Humanistic Scientific Society in Lund. He was the editor of the book Gyllene äpplen, which won the August Prize (Augustpriset) in 1992.
Per Nilsson is a Swedish author. He worked as a music teacher until the summer of 1999, after which he became a full-time author. He has also written the screenplay Hannah with H, based on his early novel Another way to be young. Between 1997 and 2010, he was a Member the Swedish Children's Book College.
