The Mercedes-Benz W105 is the internal designation for a four-door, front-engine rear-drive saloon/sedan manufactured by Mercedes-Benz from 1956 to 1959 and marketed as the Mercedes-Benz Typ 219. The W105 was nicknamed the Ponton (along with other Mercedes models) after its introduction, because it employed Ponton, or pontoon styling, a prominent styling trend that unified a car's previously articulated bonnet, body, wings and running boards into a singular envelope. The W105 featured a 2.2 L inline 6-cylinder engine.
The body shape had been introduced in 1953 by the W120 chassis 180. In the following year, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 6-cylinder 220a which was visually similar to the 180, but with a 170 mm (7 in) longer wheelbase, and an entirely new rear suspension design. 100 mm (4 in) were added to the front to accommodate the two extra cylinders and 70 mm (3 in) added to the rear doors to provide more legroom for the rear passengers. [2] This model ran until 1956 when the 219 and the 220S were introduced.
The 219 from the a-pillar forward was identical to the long-nosed 220a, including the single-carburettor 2.2 L 6-cylinder engine. However, from the a‑pillar back, it used the shorter body of the W120/W121 180/190 models — accordingly, wheelbase and total length of the 219 were shorter compared to the 220 S, but bigger compared to the 190. [2] This can be identified by the one-piece windows in the rear doors, as opposed to the 220a and 220S having separate quarter windows.
Inside, the 219 used the simpler instrumentation of the small car, along with bakelite trim instead of woodgrain.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans, limousines and armored sedans produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz, a division of German company Daimler AG. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz.
The Mercedes-Benz W128 is a 6-cylinder luxury car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1958 to 1960 and marketed as the Mercedes-Benz 220 SE. It was available in sedan, coupé, or cabriolet body styles, and it was the last new model of the "Ponton" range which had design and styling roots beginning in 1953 with the Mercedes-Benz 180 sedan. It was largely identical to its 220 S predecessor, except for having petrol injection, 'Einspritzung' in German, reflected in the additional E in its 220 SE designation.
The Mercedes-Benz W 120 and Mercedes-Benz W 121 are technically similar inline-four cylinder sedans made by Daimler-Benz. The W 120 was first introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1953. Powered initially by the company's existing 1.8 liter M 136 engine, it was sold as the Mercedes-Benz 180 through 1962. From 1954, Mercedes-Benz also offered the W 120 with a diesel engine as the Mercedes-Benz 180 D. The Mercedes-Benz W 121 was introduced as the Mercedes-Benz 190 in 1956, powered by a 1.9 liter M 121 engine. From 1958, the W 121 was also offered with an OM 621 engine, sold as the Mercedes-Benz 190 D through 1961.
The W110 was Mercedes-Benz's entry level line of midsize automobiles in the mid-1960s. One of Mercedes' range of "Fintail" models, the W110 initially was available with either a 1.9 L M121 gasoline or 2.0 L OM621 diesel inline-four. It was introduced with the 190c and 190Dc sedans in April 1961, replacing the W120 180c/180Dc and W121 190b/190Db.
The Mercedes-Benz W126 is the company's internal designation for its second generation S-Class, manufactured in sedan/saloon (1979–1991) and coupé (1981–1990) models, succeeding the company's W116 range. Mercedes introduced the 2-door C126 coupé model, marketed as the SEC, in September 1981. This generation was the first S-Class to have separate chassis codes for standard and long wheelbases and for coupé (C126).
