Mesacanthidae is a family of fish that existed during the Devonian in Northwestern Europe.^[1] It is part of the order Acanthodiformes, and includes the genera of Mesacanthus , Lodeacanthus , Melanacanthus , Teneracanthus , and Promesacanthus .^[2]^[3]
