Michael Pavia is an American businessman who served as the 30th mayor of Stamford,Connecticut. [3] [4]
Pavia earned his BA degree in psychology from Sacred Heart University and his master's degree in Urban planning from New York University. At NYU,he had a fellowship from the United States Environmental Protection Agency. He is a lifelong Stamford resident whose grandchildren represent the fifth generation of his family in the city.
He is the founder,Owner,and Director of Pavia Development LLC,a Stamford-based residential,commercial real estate managing,and construction business. [5]
He has been an Environmental Health Sanitarian with the Stamford Health Department. He created the City's first water pollution control and enforcement program. In 1976,he was hired as the first Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Board.
Pavia served as a member of Stamford's Police Commission for eight years. He chaired the selection panel that hired approximately 100 new police officers. He participated in a national search that hired a new police chief and reorganize the department.
He served as Stamford's Public Works Commissioner. Incorporating his expertise in development,urban planning and the environment,he implemented many successful programs within the Department that resulted in significant cost savings and increased efficiencies. His creation of a "Capital Projects" team of experts responsible for the oversight and implementation of all capital construction resulted in major projects being delivered on time and under budget. An active community organizer and supporter,Mike was also on the board of Directors of the Stamford Historical Society and the Springdale Neighborhood Association. He served on the Stamford Board of Representatives,representing Stamford's 18th District.
In 2009,Pavia ran for mayor of Stamford,Connecticut,seeking to succeed Dan Malloy,who decided to run for Governor of Connecticut. He ran as a Republican and defeated David Martin 55%-44%. [7] The turnout rate was 42%. [8]
In 2010,Pavia named former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine,a lifelong Stamford resident,the 2010 City of Stamford "Citizen of the Year." [9] The next year,he appointed Valentine to become the Director of Public Health and Safety. [10]
Pavia helped commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a new monument and a message of remembrance. [11]
In 2011,Pavia proposed a $470.6 million budget with a 2.93% tax increase. [12] In 2012,he proposed a $483.3 million budget with a 3.66% property tax increase. Education made up 49% of the budget,while 42% made up other city expenses. [13]
As of July 2012,Pavia earned an annual mayoral salary of $150,000. [14]

Michael "Mickey" Sherman is a Connecticut-based American criminal defense attorney. He is known for his representation of Michael Skakel. Sherman's client was found guilty. In October 2013,a judge ordered a retrial for Skakel,citing Sherman's "glaring ineffectiveness";the State appealed to the Connecticut Supreme Court,which reinstated the conviction on December 30,2016,as reported by the New York Times on December 31,2016. On May,4,2018,the conviction was overturned by the Connecticut Supreme Court.

William Morten Tong is an American lawyer and politician who is the 25th and current Attorney General of Connecticut. Born in Hartford,Connecticut,Tong attended Brown University and the University of Chicago Law School. He began his career as an attorney with the law firms Simpson Thacher &Bartlett and Finn Dixon &Herling. In 2006,Tong entered politics upon winning election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent the 147th district,which includes most of North Stamford. Serving six terms in the House from 2007 to 2019,Tong chaired the banking committee from 2011 to 2015 and the judiciary committee from 2015 to 2019.

The 2010 Connecticut gubernatorial election took place on November 2,2010,to elect the 88th Governor of Connecticut. Incumbent Republican Governor Jodi Rell had announced in a press conference in Hartford on November 9,2009,that she would not seek re-election in 2010. The sites Cook Political Report and CQ Politics both rated the election as a toss-up. This was the first open seat gubernatorial election in the state since 1994.

Jason L. McCoy is the former mayor of Vernon,Connecticut,and a trial lawyer. In 2009,McCoy was elected to his first term in 2007. McCoy was re-elected as mayor. He had served on the Vernon Town Council and was the deputy mayor of Vernon from 2005 to 2007. In 2009,McCoy was one of six mayors in Connecticut chosen by the Governor M. Jodi Rell to work closely with state officials and lawmakers to identify savings and recommend mandate relief to help close Connecticut's state budget shortfall. McCoy served as mayor of a municipality that holds town meetings to pass the mayor's yearly proposed municipal budget,which can then be sent to referendum for approval by privately cast ballot. During McCoy's two terms as mayor of Vernon he proposed and passed four municipal budgets. The Town of Vernon municipal budgets during McCoy's terms as mayor resulted in the municipal tax rate or mil rate needed to fund the municipal budget being reduced in the 2008–2009,2009-2010 budgets,the 2010-2011 tax rate or mil rate remained the same. In the 2011-2012 budget the tax rate was cut which resulted in a taxes cut to the taxpayers in the Town of Vernon,Connecticut. The 2011–2012 budget proposal was passed and adopted at the annual town meeting as opposed to being sent to referendum.
Bill Finch is an American retired politician who served as mayor of Bridgeport,Connecticut for eight years after previously serving in the Connecticut Senate for seven years. As mayor,he was known for his strong environmentally friendly policies and his tax reform efforts,both of which received local and national praise. Finch lost his role as mayor when he was defeated in 2015 by former mayor and convicted felon,Joe Ganim in the 2015 Bridgeport,Connecticut mayoral election. He has since moved onto the private sector and rejected the idea of running for mayor again.
David R. Martin was the mayor of Stamford,Connecticut from 2013 to 2021. A Democrat,he was elected Mayor of Stamford in November 2013 in a four candidate race with approximately 48% of the vote. He was sworn in on December 1,2013. He previously served as the President of the Stamford Board of Representatives and on the Stamford Board of Finance.
Caroline Simmons is an American politician serving as the mayor of Stamford,Connecticut. A member of the Democratic Party,she previously served as State Representative for Connecticut's 144th District,where she was the youngest woman legislator in Connecticut state office. She is married to former Republican State Senator Art Linares. Simmons won the 2021 Stamford mayoral election,becoming the city's first female mayor.
The 2021 Stamford mayoral election was held on November 2,2021. Incumbent Democratic mayor David Martin sought re-election to a third term in office,but lost renomination to state representative Caroline Simmons. Simmons,who was also endorsed by the Independent Party,faced unaffiliated candidate Bobby Valentine.
