Mid-State Sisters of Skate (MSSOS) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Founded in 2010, the league consists of two travel teams which play teams from other leagues. Mid-State is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). [1]
Roller derby is a contact sport played by two teams of five members roller skating counter-clockwise around a track. Roller derby is played by approximately 1,250 amateur leagues worldwide, mostly inside the United States.
Stevens Point is the county seat of Portage County, Wisconsin, United States. The city was incorporated in 1858.
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is the international governing body for the sport of women's flat track roller derby, and association of leagues around the world. The organization was founded in April 2004 as the United Leagues Coalition (ULC), but was renamed in November 2005. It is registered in Raleigh, North Carolina as a 501(c)(6) business league organization, a type of nonprofit organization.
Mid-State was founded in June 2010, with practices starting following try-outs in August. [2] It played its first public bout in June 2011, [3] and by 2013 was attracting up to 200 fans to each bout. However, it suffered a setback in April 2013 when its winter practice venue closed. [4]
The league was accepted as a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Programme in July 2012, [5] and became a full member of the WFTDA in June 2013. [6] [7]
Starting in 2015, Mid-State hosts an annual tournament called Uff Da Palooza, attracting teams from Canada and the United States. [8] Uff Da Palooza is an official WFTDA Recognized Tournament. [9]

North Star Roller Derby (NSRD) is a non-profit women's flat track roller derby league based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. North Star plays its home games at the Warner Coliseum, and is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
