Middletown Adult Education (MAE), located in Middletown, Connecticut, provides academic programs, Even Start Program, family education, job training, workplace education, enrichment classes, counseling, and assessment services.
In 1945, Middletown Adult Education was formed as the Woodrow Wilson Veterans School to serve veterans returning from World War II. The purpose was to ensure service men and women access to the many opportunities in education, in the workplace, and in the community. In the following years, these opportunities were extended to everyone in the community who wanted to complete their education, learn a marketable job skill, or pursue a new hobby or skill. In 1953, the name of the school was officially changed to Middletown Adult High School Program. From 1946 to May 2008, over 3,000 graduates finished the program with high school diplomas, General Equivalency Diplomas, and valuable job skills to further improve their lives.
From 1946 to 1989, MAE was located at the South Congregation Church on South Main Street, Middletown. From 1989 to 1995, all programs were held at the Methodist Church. Some classes are still held at the Methodist Church but the main program then moved in 1995 to its current location at the Millennium Education Center, on the site of the old Kabachnick Department Store.
Middletown Adult Education has grown to be an important regional program serving nine towns. It meets the needs of an increasing number of people of all ages and backgrounds. MAE serves the Connecticut communities of Middletown, Cromwell, East Haddam/Moodus, East Hampton, Old Saybrook, Portland, Rocky Hill, Regional District #4 (Chester, Deep River, Essex, Centerbrook, Ivoryton), Regional District #13 (Durham, Middlefield, Rockfall), and Regional District #17 (Haddam, Higganum, Killingworth), Westbrook, and the surrounding areas.
A community college is a type of educational institution. The term can have different meanings in different countries: many community colleges have an "open enrollment" for students who have graduated from high school. The term usually refers to a higher educational institution that provides workforce education and college transfer academic programs. Some institutions maintain athletic teams and dormitories similar to their university counterparts.

In 1650, it was incorporated by English settlers as a town under its original Native American name, Mattabeseck, after the local indigenous people, also known as the Mattabesett. They were among the many tribes along the Atlantic coast who spoke Algonquian languages. The colonists renamed the settlement in 1653.
Kingsley College is a ministry and theology school of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Australia. The college headquarters are located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The college was founded by Kingsley Ridgway in 1948 as the Wesleyan Methodist Bible College of Australia. Its students come from a variety of denominational and national backgrounds.
Craven Community College is a public community college with its main campus in New Bern, North Carolina. It also has campuses in Havelock and Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. Established in 1965, it was originally an extension of Lenoir Community College—Craven IEC. It later added degree-awarding programs in several technical fields and became a technical institute. In the early 1970s, college-transfer degrees were added and the school became a community college.
The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) is a public career technology school in Englewood, Ohio. It serves five southwestern Ohio counties. Prior to 1994 it was known as the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School.
Franklin Academy is a co-ed college preparatory boarding school in East Haddam, Connecticut, serving students in grades 8-12 as well as post-graduate students. The school's primary mission is to provide education to adolescents and young adults with nonverbal learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
The headquarters of the Connecticut Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America is located in East Hartford, Connecticut. The present council was formed as the result of the merger between the Indian Trails Council of Norwich, Connecticut and Long Rivers Council of Hartford, Connecticut. Now it is the largest council in the state with a youth membership of over 17,000 and a volunteer base of nearly 10,000 adults, serving for over half of the state.
The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) is a public community college district in San Diego, California. The SDCCD is one of the five community college districts in San Diego County and part of the California Community Colleges system. Under the California Master Plan for Higher Education, the California Community Colleges system is a part of the state's three-tier public higher education system, which also includes the University of California system and California State University system.
Lively District Secondary School is a high school located in the community of Lively, Ontario, Canada, within the city of Greater Sudbury. Overseen by the Rainbow District School Board, it offers six different programs which focus on mining and health and wellness, among others. It has both grade 7 and 8 as well as the high school. LDSS is known for its athletic success in such sports as football, flag football, volleyball, gymnastics, hockey and track and field.
Coginchaug Regional High School is a public high school located in Durham, Connecticut and is named after the Coginchaug River. It is part of Regional School District #13, which encompasses the communities of Durham, Middlefield and Rockfall, Connecticut. Coginchaug is attended by students in grades 9 through 12.
Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) is a non-profit with locations in Brooklyn and Queens in New York City. OBT's mission is to break the cycle of poverty and inequity through education, job training, and employment. The vision to strengthen the workforce by serving as a bridge to economic opportunity for youth, individuals, and families in underserved communities is critical for economic recovery during these unprecedented times. In 2013, OBT partnered with the YMCA of Greater New York in the creation of Y Roads Centers. In 2014, OBT was named to the S&I's list of the 100 most effective organizations by the Social Impact Exchange.
The state of Connecticut funds and operates the Connecticut Technical High School System (CTHSS), also known as the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS). It is a statewide system of 17 diploma-granting technical high schools, and one technical education center, serving approximately 10,200 full-time high school students with comprehensive education, and training in 38 occupational areas. CTECS also serves approximately 5,500 part-time adult students in apprenticeship and other programs. Two full-time adult programs are offered in aviation maintenance.

The Middle Haddam Historic District is a historic district in the town of East Hampton, Connecticut. It encompasses the village center of Middle Haddam, a riverfront community founded in the 17th century on the east bank of the Connecticut River. It was an important port on the river between about 1730 and 1880. Its layout and architecture are reflective of this history, and by the geographic constraints of the local terrain. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
Estuary Transit District, doing business as 9 Town Transit, is the public transit provider for the Connecticut River Estuary region. ETD provides public transit bus service through its 9 Town Transit service to the towns of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Durham, Essex, East Haddam, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook, Connecticut. Services are provided to the general public, with no age or disability restrictions. ETD was named the Rural System of the Year in 2011 by the Community Transportation Association of America.
Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood house is a 103-year-old comprehensive social services organization based in East St. Louis, Illinois. It is a United Way organization and is a United Methodist settlement house operating 22 programs at five sites in the Metro East St. Louis Metro East.
Monsignor Fraser College is a Roman Catholic specialized dual-track Alternative and Adult Secondary School run by the Toronto Catholic District School Board in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The school was named in honour of John Andrew Mary Fraser', the founder of the Scarborough Foreign Mission Society and a missionary.
