Miguel Coimbra (born 9 December 1977) is a French freelance illustrator and graphic artist.

Career

Coimbra started drawing in his childhood. His special interest in games and the fantasy theme was aroused through the trading card game Magic: The Gathering . [1] Coimbra moved to Lyon in 2005 and worked as a graphic designer for the resident video game developer Eden Games on titles including Test Drive Unlimited and Alone in the Dark .[ citation needed ]

Since 2006, Coimbra is mainly active as an illustrator for board games and card games. His best-known works include the board games Small World , Cyclades , and 7 Wonders . [2] He has also done illustrations for trading card games, including the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game and Star Wars Galaxies . In addition, Coimbra also illustrated several book covers and concept art for computer games.[ citation needed ]

Lord of the Rings is a cooperative board game based on the high fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. Published in 2000 by Kosmos in Germany, Wizards of the Coast in the U.S., and Parker Brothers in the U.K., the game is designed by Reiner Knizia and features artwork by illustrator John Howe. In the game, each player plays a hobbit in the party, and the party will aim to destroy the One Ring. Upon its release, the game received a Spiel des Jahres special award. A slightly revised version was later published by Fantasy Flight Games.

Dungeoneer is a non-collectible card game designed by Thomas Denmark and released by Atlas Games. Denmark is also credited for many of the illustrations of the cards. During each game turn, players alternatively take on the role of the "dungeon lord", who unleashes monsters and traps on his opponents, and of the adventurer who explores the dungeon trying to solve his quests. <i>Terraforming Mars</i> (board game) 2016 strategy board game

Terraforming Mars is a board game for 1 to 5 players designed by Jacob Fryxelius and published by FryxGames in 2016, and thereafter by 12 others, including Stronghold Games. In Terraforming Mars, players take the role of corporations working together to terraform the planet Mars by raising the temperature, adding oxygen to the atmosphere, covering the planet's surface with water and creating plant and animal life. The game incorporates elements of resource management, engine building, and strategic planning. Players compete to earn the most victory points, which are measured by their contribution to terraforming and to human infrastructure. These goals are achieved by collecting income and resources which allow them to play various projects, represented by cards that increase their income or resources, build infrastructure, or directly contribute to terraforming the planet. The game was received positively by fans and critics, and received numerous awards.

Onitama is a strategy board game for two players created in 2014 by Japanese game designer Shimpei Sato and launched by Arcane Wonders. In Germany, the game was launched by Pegasus Games in 2017. It is thematically based on the different fighting styles of Japanese martial arts.

<i>Roll Player</i> Famtasy board game

Roll Player is a euro-style board game designed by Keith Matejka and published in 2016 by Thunderworks Games. In the game, players compete to design the best fantasy adventurer, through dice rolling and card drafting mechanics.
