The Arena Football League (AFL) was a professional arena football league in the United States. It was founded in 1986, but played its first official games in the 1987 season, making it the third longest-running professional football league in North America after the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the National Football League (NFL) until the AFL closed in 2019.
The Columbus Destroyers were an Arena Football League (AFL) team based in Columbus, Ohio, with home games in Nationwide Arena. The team was founded in 1999 as the Buffalo Destroyers, based in Buffalo, New York, and relocated to Columbus in 2004. They folded along with the original incarnation of the AFL following the 2008 season, after a total of ten seasons of play.
The Tampa Bay Storm were a professional arena football team based in Tampa, Florida, US. It played in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Philadelphia Soul can refer to one of two successive professional arena football teams in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They both have competed in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Soul made six ArenaBowl appearances, winning their first appearance and losing their next two appearances. The Soul won in their fourth appearance, against the Rattlers in 2016, winning 56–42. They also won in their fifth appearance in 2017 against the Tampa Bay Storm, winning 44–40 before losing in their sixth appearance in 2019 to the Albany Empire 45-27.
The Chicago Bruisers were a professional arena football team based in Rosemont, Illinois. They were founded in 1987 as a charter member of the Arena Football League (AFL). They played their home games at Rosemont Horizon.
The Toronto Phantoms were a professional arena football team based in Toronto, Ontario. The team was a member of the Eastern Division of the National Conference of the Arena Football League (AFL). The team also previously operated in New York City and Hartford, Connecticut.
The Charlotte Rage were a professional arena football team based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. They were members of the Arena Football League from 1992 to 1996. Mike Dailey is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at McDaniel College from 2016 to 2018, compiling a record of 9–21. Dailey was a head coach in the Arena Football League for the Albany Firebirds and the Colorado Crush. During his time in the Arena Football League, he won two ArenaBowls and was named AFL Coach of the Year in 1999. He is fifth all time in wins with a career record of 115–84, including an 11–8 mark in the postseason. Under his leadership, the Firebirds won ArenaBowl XIII in 1999, defeating the Orlando Predators led by Jay Gruden, former head coach of the Washington Redskins. In 2005 the Crush, then owned by John Elway, won the ArenaBowl XIX. Dailey's 1999 Albany Firebirds team was voted the greatest team in AFL history, while his 2005 Colorado Crush was voted fifth. He was inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
Michael Louis Hohensee is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the United States Football League (USFL), Canadian Football League (CFL), National Football League (NFL) and Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football at the University of Minnesota, and was in the AFL for two seasons, from 1987 to 1988. Hohensee has been a head coach since 1990, beginning at the Washington Commandos. He has served as head coach of eight different arena football franchises, winning ArenaBowl XX with the Chicago Rush in 2006.
The Mahoning Valley Thunder was a professional af2 arena football team from 2007 to 2009.
Nicholas Mike-Mayer (MICK-uh-myur) is an American former professional football player who was a kicker in the National Football League (NFL) from 1973 to 1982 for the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Buffalo Bills. He made the Pro Bowl in his rookie year. He later played with the San Antonio Gunslingers of the United States Football League (USFL). His brother Steve Mike-Mayer also played in the NFL. Mike-Mayer would later go on to play in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the Chicago Bruisers and Los Angeles Cobras, earning All-Arena honors in 1987.
Robert Gordon is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver for thirteen seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL), six of those for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was a CFL Eastern All Star in 1999 and 2000. In 1998, 2001–2002 and 2005, he played in the Arena Football League for several teams.

The Oklahoma City Blazers were a professional ice hockey team that was based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They competed in the Central Professional Hockey League from 1965 to 1977. The team played their home games in the Fairgrounds Arena, and later in The Myriad.
