Miriam Lexmann (born 2 December 1972) is a Slovak politician who has been a Member of the European Parliament since February 2020 and member of the Christian Democratic Movement.
Lexmann was born to Eugen and Marta Lexmann in Bratislava, Slovakia. She has three sisters. [1] Lexmann is of German descent: Her great-uncle, Mikuláš Jozef Lexmann, came to central Slovakia in 1853. [2]
Upon graduation from university, Lexmann worked for the political non-profit International Republican Institute (IRI). [3] She is dedicated to the impact of misinformation on public opinion. [4]
During the 2019 European Parliament election in Slovakia, Lexmann received 27,833 preferential votes and remained in second place, thus being elected as a member of the European Parliament. [5] Despite this, she would assume the mandate only after Brexit. [6] Regarding the situation, Lexmann said: "I can't say I'm looking forward to Brexit. I see a higher interest in Brexit not happening." [7] She initially wanted to work at her previous workplace, [8] but started working in the faction of the European People's Party after Brexit. [9] She became a full member of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and was included as a substitute in the European Parliament Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE). [10] Lexmann took the oath on 16 February 2020. [11]
In November 2023, Lexmann declared that she is considering candidacy in the 2024 Slovak presidential election. [12]
Following the 2024 European elections, Lexmann became a quaestor of the European Parliament, making her part of the Parliament's leadership under President Roberta Metsola. [13]
Lexmann got engaged to Christian Democratic Movement Milan Majerský in August 2020. [14] Their wedding took place after the ecclesiastical court found that his first marriage was declared null and void. [15] They got married in the church of Our Lady of the Snow in Bratislava. [16]
In March 2021, Lexmann was placed on China's sanctions list along with ten European politicians and academics, thus banned from doing business in China. She stated: "What I'm worried about is that the sanctions could directly hurt people from China that I'm in contact with". [17]
Martin Poliačik is a Slovak expert on communication and critical thinking. From 2010 to 2020, he was a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.. He is one of the founding members of the liberal party Progressive Slovakia.. He previously co-founded the political party Freedom and Solidarity, which he left in November 2017 due to disagreements with its chairman, Richard Sulík. He studied systematic philosophy in Trnava, Slovakia, and prior to politics, he was a teacher at a Montessori school in Bratislava. From 2003 to 2006, he led the Slovak Debating Association as its executive director. Together with Linda Lančová, he wrote the book "Order in the Head ."
Boris Kollár is a Slovak businessman and politician. He served as a Member of the National Council from 2016 to 2023 and a Speaker of the National Council from 2020 to 2023.

Eduard Heger is a Slovak politician, who served as the Prime Minister of Slovakia from 1 April 2021 to 15 May 2023. He previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Igor Matovič. Heger was a member of the presidium of the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) party which he left in March 2023 to take over the extra-parliamentary Blue Coalition party, subsequently rebranded as Democrats.

Miroslav Beblavý is a Slovak investor, startup founder, economist, author and former politician. He is currently CEO of CB ESPRI, an impact investment fund, CEO of Zhiva, a behavioral health startup, and adjunct professor at Sciences Po. Between 2010 and 2020, he served three terms as an MP of the National Council of Slovakia. Between 2002 and 2006, he held the post of state secretary at the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family. He was also the chairman of the Together – Civic Democracy party in the 2018-2020 period, co-leading the unsuccessful election coalition with Progressive Slovakia in the 2020 Slovak parliamentary election. He also worked as Senior Research Fellow at Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels (2010-2019).
Ján Horecký is a Slovak teacher and politician. He serves as an MP of the National Council. He had previously served as the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of Slovakia in the government of Eduard Heger since 4 October 2020.
Soňa Gaborčáková is a Slovak social worker and politician. From May to October 2023, she served as the Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Family. Vladimír Ledecký, M.Sc. is a Slovak politician, member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic and former state secretary at the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic. He was a member of the presidency of the ZA ĽUDÍ party, where he acted as a guarantor for regional development. From 1998 to 2020 he was the mayor of Spišský Hrhov, from 2005 to 2022 he also served as a deputy of the Prešov self-governing region. He is currently a member of the SaS parliamentary club.
