Miss Philippines Earth 2001 (also called Miss Philippines 2001) was the first edition of Miss Philippines Earth. It took place at the UP Theater in Quezon City, Metro Manila on April 28, 2001.
At the end of the event, Carlene Aguilar was crowned as the first ever winner of Miss Philippines Earth. Maria del Carmen Antigua was first runner-up, Anjelly Gamboa was second runner-up, Marites Orjalesa was third runner-up, and Gemma Gatdula was fourth runner-up. [1] [2]
The coronation night presentation show was opened with the Miss Earth theme song entitled Woman of the Earth written by Dero Pedero.

The board of judges was led by Metro Manila development authority Chairman Benjamin Abalos. Other judges included environment secretary Heherson Alvarez, actress Chin-Chin Gutierrez and lawyer Katrina Legarda. [3]
Miss Earth is an annual international major beauty pageant based in the Philippines that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation and social responsibility. Along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International, it is one of the Big Four beauty pageants.
Priscilla Meirelles de Almeida-Estrada is a Brazilian model, host, actress, environmentalist and beauty queen. She won the Miss Earth 2004 pageant held in the Philippines. She also won the Miss Globe 2003 pageant. Meirelles has been married to Filipino actor and model John Estrada since March 2011.
Winfred Adah Omwakwe is a Kenyan model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Earth 2002, becoming the first black woman and first African to hold the title. Originally scheduled to be held in 2020, the coronation night of the pageant was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was rescheduled to July 11, 2021 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines with Catriona Gray and Nicole Cordoves as presenters. Due to the restrictions caused by the disease at the time of the pageant, several health and safety protocols were implemented to ensure the safety of the artists, candidates, crew and organizers of the event.
