Missouri's 3rd Senatorial District is one of 34 districts in the Missouri Senate. The district has been represented by Republican Mike Henderson since 2025. [2] [3]

Contents

Geography

The district includes southwestern portions of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and includes the counties of Crawford, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Washington, and southern Jefferson County. [2] [4] Major municipalities in the district include Bloomsdale, Bonne Terre, Cuba, De Soto, Farmington, and Park Hills. The district also includes a portion of Mark Twain National Forest.

St. Francois County is a county in the Lead Belt region in the U.S. state of Missouri. At the 2020 census, the population was 66,922. The largest city and county seat is Farmington. The county was officially organized on December 19, 1821. It was named after the St. Francis River. The origin of the river's name is unclear. It may refer to St. Francis of Assisi. Another possibility is that Jacques Marquette, a Jesuit who explored the region in 1673, named the river for the Jesuit missionary Francis Xavier; Marquette had spent some time at the mission of St. François Xavier before his voyage and, as a Jesuit, was unlikely to have given the river a name honoring the Franciscans.

Missouri's 8th congressional district is one of 435 congressional districts in the United States and one of eight congressional districts in the state of Missouri. He represented the 3rd senatorial district, which includes Iron County, Reynolds County, St. Francois County, Ste. Genevieve County, Washington County and part of Jefferson County, from 2013 to 2020.

Sandy Crawford is an American politician. A Republican, she represents the 28th District in the Missouri Senate, which encompasses Benton County, Cedar County, Dallas County, Henry County, Hickory County, Pettis County, Polk County, St. Clair County, and Vernon County. She was elected in an August 2017 special election. Crawford previously served as the House Majority Whip, and in the Missouri House from 2010 to August 2017.
