Mona Gustafsson, born 9 August 1956 in Halmstad, Sweden, is a Swedish singer, songwriter and guitarist.

Earlier, she used to sing with Leif Bloms, but as the band was disestablished on 31 December 1995, she established another dansband in 1996, Mona G:s orkester, which was disestablished in January 2009, and she started a country music career. She was nominated as "Female Singer of the Year 2006" by SR P4, and in the Får jag lov magazines Guldklaven voting.

As a 15 years old girl, Mona Gustafsson started to sing with the Lill-Nickes dansband from Halmstad, which was established on 1 May 1972. Other members were her father, Kurt Gustafsson, 44 years old, Sven-Arne Olofsson, 21 years old, and Kapellmeister Dan Larsson, 17 years old. Their first appearance occurred in Värnamo on 14 June 1972. Mona began her career during a talent show at Halmstad Folkets hus in the spring of 1970. [1]

Some years later, she was a founder of another dansband Curt Jürgens.

In the early 1980s, she moved to Växjö, and in 1981, she started touring with Leif Bloms, and when the three Leif, Gert and Åke Blom retired on 31 December 1995, she started her own dansband in 1996.

As a songwriter, she has composed music for both herself and others, one of her most famous songs are Dej ska jag älska all min tid , winner of Hänts meloditävling, in 1992 with Leif Bloms. This was the first and only in the history of the later cancelled competition, when the winning song was written and performed by the same person. [2] She has also written songs for acts like Thorleifs, Curt Haagers, Kikki Danielsson and Sandins. The song Så länge mina ögon ser, originally recorded by Thorleifs on the 1987 album Till Folkets park , was recorded by Mona G:s orkester and released as a solo single in 2007. Several of her songs have been covered by others.

So called "Mona songs" are recognized by calm, ballad-like, songs with lyrics in Swedish about love, longing and missing someone. Writing own songs within a larger scale is rare within the dansband genre.

In the spring of 2020, she observed her 50th anniversary as an artist, but the anniversary ended up cancelled because of the Corona Pandemic. [3]

Wizex is a Swedish dansband formed in Osby in 1973. It purchased the rights to the name from a band that started as Ulrik Wittmans Kvintett in 1957. When Ulrik Wittman left the band in 1963 they started to use the name Wizex. When read out the name sounds like "The Six of Us", "vi sex", in Swedish, and it was six persons left in the band when they changed the name. Today's band had six founders and was allowed to purchase the name, and hence use 1973 as the starting point.

Anders Engbergs was a dansband in Skara, Sweden, reestablished in 1994 when Lotta & Anders Engbergs orkester divided into two bands, Anders Engbergs and Lotta Engbergs, three years after the divorce of husband Anders Engberg and wife Lotta Engberg. Anders Engbergs had also been the name of the pre-split band prior to Lotta Engberg joining it in 1989. One of the more famous singers in its lineup up to 1988 was Stefan Borsch.

"Gråt inga tårar" is a song written by Åke Hallgren in the dansband Pippis from Hede, and recorded and a released a single by several dansbands in 1974, including Pippis, Dannys and Thorleifs. Pippis also recorded the song on the 1975 album Ordning på torpet.

Leif Bloms was a dansband in Växjö in Sweden. scoring chart successes at the Swedish album chart during the mid-late 1970s. On 31 December 1995 the band was disbanded after singing and playing together for almost 40 years. Starting with the 1981 album Håll dig kvar, the band's singer was Mona Gustafsson, who wrote the band's 1992 song "Dej ska jag älska all min tid" which won the 1992 Hänt song contest in Älvsjö. After the band was disbanded, Mona Gustafsson, Patrik Ahlm and René Saulesco founded another dansband, Mona G:s orkester.

Mona G:s orkester was a dansband in Växjö, Sweden, founded in 1996 in that town by Mona Gustafsson, Patrik Ahlm and René Saulesco, former members of Leif Bloms, which had been disbanded on 31 December 1996. The band's first gig was at "Sommarlust" in Kristianstad during the 1996 Epiphany holiday.

Carina Jaarneks orkester was a dansband in the town of Ronneby, Sweden, scoring chart successes at Svensktoppen between the late 1980s and the early 2000s, with Carina Jaarnek acting as the band's singer. It was started in 1989. In 1991, the band won the first, unofficial, edition of the Swedish Dansband Championships contest. In the year 2000, the band participated in the finals of the Dansbandslåten contest with the song Minns du hur vi älskade which, however, didn't win the contest.

"Vid en liten fiskehamn" is a song written by Jan Christer Ericsson in Lasse Stefanz, and originally thought to become a hit song with the own band. Lasse Stefanz recorded the song on the 1979 album Darlin', and it also appeared on the band's 1992 album På begäran.

Platina Records was a Swedish independent record label founded in 1964 by businessman and songwriter Evert Jakobsson. The label saw great success throughout the mid-1960s with rock acts such as Tages, before turning to dansband music in the 1970s, gaining success with Flamingokvintetten and Thorleifs. After turning to pay to play in 1984, the label shut down in 1989.
