"Money,Power &Respect" is the second single released from the Lox's debut album of the same name. The song was produced by Hitmen members D-Dot and Amen-Ra and featured DMX,who contributed the song's fourth verse. The song's chorus is performed by Lil' Kim;its motif is consistent with German sociologist Max Weber's Three-component theory of social stratification,which recognizes that one's wealth,power,and prestige,affects one's independent capability or ability to act on one's will. The track samples Dexter Wansel's 1979 song "New Beginning".
Released as the follow-up to their debut single,"If You Think I'm Jiggy",which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100,"Money,Power &Respect" was an even bigger success,reaching 17 on the Hot 100 and topping the Hot Rap Singles chart at No. 1. To date,the song remains the group's most successful single and was certified gold by the RIAA for sales of 500,000 copies on April 28,1998.
In addition to the Money,Power &Respect album,the song was among the tracks on The Source Presents:Hip Hop Hits,Vol. 2 , Music Inspired by Scarface ,Survival of the Illest and Bad Boy's Greatest Hits. It was also used as entrance music for professional wrestler Jazz in Extreme Championship Wrestling.

Jason Terrance Phillips,known professionally as Jadakiss,is an American rapper from Yonkers,New York. He began his career in the 1990s as one third of the rap trio The Lox alongside Styles P and Sheek Louch. The group released their debut album,Money,Power &Respect (1998) for Bad Boy Records,while its follow up,We Are the Streets (2000) was released for Ruff Ryders Entertainment,an imprint of Interscope Records. Both albums peaked within the top five of the Billboard 200 and received critical praise;their two subsequent albums,Filthy America... It's Beautiful (2013) and Living Off Xperience (2020) were released through Jay-Z's Roc Nation saw continued positive reception.
K-Ci &JoJo is an American R&B duo,consisting of brothers Cedric "K-Ci" Hailey and Joel "JoJo" Hailey. Natives of Charlotte,North Carolina,they are also the lead singers of the chart-topping R&B group Jodeci with the DeGrate brothers—Donald and Mr. Dalvin. They are known for the 1998 smash hit "All My Life" which was the No.1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and received multiple Grammy nominations. They were also featured artists on another No.1 Billboard Hot 100 hit single,2Pac’s 1996 song "How Do U Want It",which also received a Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group Grammy nomination in 1997. David R. Styles,better known by his stage name Styles P,is an American rapper,best known as a member of hip hop group the Lox,alongside childhood friends Sheek Louch and Jadakiss. Along with the other members of the Lox,he is a founder of D-Block Records and was also a part of the Ruff Ryders Entertainment collective. In addition,he has released multiple albums and mixtapes as a solo MC. In 2002,he released his debut solo album A Gangster and a Gentleman,which contained the hit single "Good Times". The song peaked at number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Will to Power is an American dance-pop group that originated in South Florida in the mid-1980s founded by Miami producer Bob Rosenberg.
