Moraxella cuniculi is a Gram-negative bacterium in the genus Moraxella , which was isolated from the oral mucosa of a rabbit in Germany. [4] [5] [6] [7] The previous name was Neisseria cuniculi. [8]

The Italian community of Formello to the north of Veii was named after the numerous cuniculi there.

Encephalitozoon cuniculi is a mammalian microsporidial pathogen with world-wide distribution. An important cause of neurologic and renal disease in rabbits, E. cuniculi can also cause disease in immunocompromised people.
