Contents

The two Gold compilations combined are incomplete in terms of charted hits as "Green River", "Commotion", "Travelin' Band", "Long as I Can See the Light" and "Someday Never Comes" do not appear in either volume. [3]

Creedence Clearwater Revival, also referred to as Creedence and CCR, was an American rock band which recorded and performed from 1968 to 1972. The band initially consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; bassist Stu Cook; and drummer Doug Clifford. These members had played together since 1959, first as the Blue Velvets and later as the Golliwogs.

The group had nine top-10 singles and eight gold albums between 1968 and 1972, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

The Golliwogs were an American rock band that later evolved into Creedence Clearwater Revival. After previously playing as The Blue Velvets beginning in 1959, the band changed its name to The Golliwogs in 1964. Over the next three years they released a string of singles written by brothers Tom and John Fogerty. They became Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967, an incarnation in which they would enjoy great commercial and critical success.

He wrote it with bandmate Robert Chaisson, but when released, Stan Lewis, the owner of Jewel/Paula Records and whose daughter Susan was the inspiration for the song, and Eleanor Broadwater, the wife of Nashville DJ Gene Nobles, were credited as co-writers to give them shares of the royalties.
