Morgan's Gate is a locality in Mangalore city of Karnataka state in India. [1] It is situated around 4 km southeast to Hampankatta. It is known for the Basel Mission tile factory, founded in 1865. It is close to Mangaladevi Temple in Bolar. Mangalore Club, Mphasis and St. Rita's Church are the other landmarks in the area.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore is a diocese located in the city of Mangalore in the Ecclesiastical province of Bangalore in India. The diocese falls on the southwestern coast of India. At present, it comprises the whole civil districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in Karnataka state. This region was collectively referred as South Canara during the British Raj and the early post-independence era, prior to the States Reorganisation Act in 1956. It was established as a separate Apostolic Vicariate from the Apostolic Vicariate of Verapoly in 1853 and was promoted to a diocese on 1 September 1886.

The Gurupura River is a river in the Karnataka state of India. It originates in the Western Ghats and is a tributary of the Netravati River, which empties into the Arabian Sea, south of Mangalore. It gets its name from the town Gurupura situated near Mangalore. The New Mangalore Port and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers are situated on its northern banks. Once upon a time it formed northern boundary of Mangalore city along with Netravati River as southern boundary but currently it forms the boundary only for the central part of Mangalore due to the growth of the city beyond these river boundaries.

On 22 May 2010, a Boeing 737-800 passenger jet operating Air India Express Flight 812 from Dubai to Mangalore, India, crashed on landing at Mangalore. The captain had continued an unstabilized approach, despite three calls from the First Officer to "go around", resulting in the aircraft overshooting the runway, falling down a hillside and bursting into flames. Of the 160 passengers and six crew members on board, 158 were killed and only eight passengers survived.

Palakkad railway division is one of the six administrative divisions of the Southern Railway zone of Indian Railways, headquartered at Palakkad in Kerala. It is the smallest railway division in Southern Railway. It was formed by dissolving the Podanur division. Managing 588 route kilometers of track in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Mahé, it is one of the oldest railway divisions in India. The major stations under this railway division are Palakkad Junction, Shoranur Junction, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Mangalore Central, Mangalore Junction and Pollachi Junction. It is the only division headquarters in India with no originating train to its state capital. In India, Palakkad division has the least number of pitlines.

It is one of the major railway stations in Karnataka state and it is the third biggest Railway junction in the Coast after Thiruvananthapuram Central under Southern Railway zone of Indian Railways. And this is the railway station which is in coast under Palakkad railway division. Apart from this city there is also another railway station named Mangalore Junction railway station previously known as Kankanady railway station. Mangalore Junction is a gateway to the port city of Mangaluru located at Darbar Hill, Padil, Mangaluru, 575007, coming under the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway. The station is a junction interconnecting Mangalore Central railway station with Kerala in the south, Maharashtra/Goa and Mangalore Sea Port in the north and Bengaluru-Chennai in the east. It is the busiest railway junction in the area, as all north- and southbound trains touch Mangalore through this station.
