Morgan James Publishing is an American independent book publisher and distributor, [1] specializing in non-fiction, fiction, faith and kids categories. [2]

History

The company was founded in 2003 in Virginia by David L. Hancock. [3] In their early years, Morgan James provided a hybrid of traditional publishing and a subsidy publisher model in which entrepreneurial business nonfiction authors pre-paid fees against the publisher's royalties to be published. [4] [5] Hancock became business partners with Guerrilla Marketing author Jay Conrad Levinson and together they published a series of non-fiction books. [6]

In December 2008, the company was invited by NASDAQ to ring the opening bell and to recognize the book Do Your Giving While You Are Living by Eva Haller, which the company promotes. [7]

In September 2013, the company launched an E-book bundling program. [8]

In February 2015, the company signed a partnering agreement with Aerbook, [9] and the Aer.io Retail Network to offer excerpts and sales of its titles using social media. [10]

In August 2018, Morgan James Publishing announced a partnership with Publica. Publishers Weekly, the international news magazine of book publishing and bookselling, listed the publishing house as one of the fastest-growing independent publishers of 2014, 2015 and 2018. [11] [12] [13]

Publishing

Morgan James Publishing reports that it receives an average of 5,000 manuscript proposals each year and accepts and publishes an average of 150. [14]

C&T Publishing is a midsize, family-run, independent publisher of quilting, sewing, and crafting books based in Concord, CA. It was founded in 1983 by Carolie and Tom Hensley, owners of The Cotton Patch, a quilting and sewing supplies store in Lafayette, CA. Roberta Horton, a friend of Carolie's, wanted to publish a book on Amish-inspired quilting, so Carolie and Tom raised money from friends and followed do-it-yourself advice from a library book to publish their very first book, An Amish Adventure. The first edition sold 90,000 copies. The business grew from there, and Carolie and Tom's sons, Todd and Tony Hensley, purchased it from their parents in 1990. Since then, C&T has introduced two new imprints: Stash Books and FunStitch Studio, as well as a website, Patternspot.com, where quilt patterns can be posted and purchased directly by consumers.
