Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

About Morrerense

The club is the residential name of Morro, the common inhabitant name is not commonly as Morriense. The club is unrelated to the Portuguese club Moreirense as this club has another r in its name.

Its logo has a curved shield in a approximate shape of a triangle, its club name is colored green and the name (without Associação = Association in English) on top, it has a nearly yellow rim with a thin green line on the outer part on the bottom of the top portion reads Morrerense. Inside is a palm tree ( Phoenix canariensis , Cape Verde (or Capeverdean) date palm) dominant on the island.

Until 2014, alongside Santana de Morrinho, the club has no regional titles won, now it is one of several (one of them is Miramar) who never won any regional title.

The club was absent in 2012 and 2014 due to financial and material reasons. The club returned to the regional competition in 2015 and finished runner up in the regionals which is their greatest position for Morrerense, they finished with 18 points, 5 wins and 3 draws and scored 13 goals. In the 2016 season, a return to a 12 match season had the same points wins and draws but had four losses, the club scored 18 goals and finished a position lower, third place. Morrerense played for the 2017 Premier Division and was less successful, the club finished fifth with 15 points and had four wins and five losses, the club scored 17 goals which was third and was shared with the Académicas of Maio, Académico 83 do Porto Inglês and Académica Calheta do Maio.

The club started off the 2017-18 Premier Division season good again, the club is now second, actually alone. On December 22, the match was originally a scoreless draw, as Barreirense fielded an ineligible player, Morrerense was awarded a win. At round four, Morrerense was second place with 10 points shared with Académico 83 and has 9 goals scored, two less than that club. Morrerense at round 6 was second place with 13 points and 12 goals scored, their last win, a 2-3 win over Santana made on January 21. Morrerense did not advance further, they lost three more matches, then a four goal draw with Académica da Calheta came up. They were fourth with 14 points, they had 17 goals scored alongside Miramar. Morrerense had a slump, they largely suffered a 10-1 loss to Académico 83 and became the worst for the season, the club remains fourth, one point more than Miramar, Morrerense conceded the most goals on the island that round. Morrerense recently defeated Santana 4-2 and has 17 points, their goal concessions is again second ahead of Santana's, on the good side, they have 22 goals, third in Maio.
