The Mumbai Challengers was an Indian professional basketball team based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Challengers last competed in the United Basketball Alliance as a member of the North Division along with three other teams. They are one of two UBA teams located in Maharashtra, the other is Pune Peshwas. The team was established in 2015 with the inception of the UBA.

Contents

The Challengers won their first UBA Championship in Season 4 [1] after defeating the Punjab Steelers in the semifinals and the Bengaluru Beast in the finals series.

The only player that has played all four UBA Seasons for the Challengers is Karanpal Singh, while Jagdeep Singh Bains, [2] Nikhil Kumar, Prudhvi Reddy [3] and Dildar have all been on the roster since season 2.

Singh competed with the India national basketball team at the FIBA Asia Championship. Singh has completed his degree of coaching from national institute of sports, Patiala in 2019.

The United Basketball Alliance (UBA) was the first men’s professional basketball league in India, comprising eight teams. The UBA was headquartered in Pune and had a city team, Pune Peshwas. The first UBA match was played on 17 July 2015 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad between Bengaluru Beast and Pune Peshwas. The match was won by Pune Peshwas as they pulled out an 88-81 win. This marked the first time a professional basketball league tipped off in India.

The UBA Pro Basketball League season is the 3rd season of the UBA Pro Basketball League. The Phase-1 of the season began on 28 February 2016 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune.

The 2017 season' of the Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 10 and branded as Vivo IPL 2017, was the tenth edition of the IPL, a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the BCCI in 2007. The 2017 season started on 5 April 2017 and finished on 21 May 2017, with Hyderabad hosting the opening match and the final. This was the last time that Sony Television Network broadcast the tournament before Star Sports Network took the broadcasting rights from the 11th season and are currently bearing the broadcasting rights for the tournament.
