Murga (Bulgarian : Мурга) is a village in Chernoochene Municipality, in Kardzhali Province, in southern-central Bulgaria. It is located 177.79 kilometres (110.47 mi) southeast of Sofia. [1] It covers an area of 16.194 square kilometres and as of 2007 it had a population of 53 people. [1]

Opaka is a town in Targovishte Province in northeast Bulgaria. As of December 2009, the town had a population of 2,873 and covers an area of 57 square kilometres (22 sq mi). It is 70 kilometres (43 mi) south of the city of Rousse on the border with Romania and 250 kilometres (160 mi) northeast of the Bulgarian capital, Sofia. Archeologists have found evidence of Thracian, Roman and Slavonic settlements in the area. Near the village of Krepcha, a stone monastery is the site of the oldest known Old Bulgarian Cyrillic inscription, dated from around 920 CE. A 2nd century Thracian tumulus containing various artifacts, including six leaves of a golden wreath and bronze figurines, was excavated in 2011.

Murga Mahadeva Shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Nuamundi mines area under Champua subdivision of Kendujhar district. Lakhs of devotees visit this place during the month of Shraavana, Kartik and during Shivaratri. It is an ancient shrine where both tribal and Brahminical system of worship are followed. The waterfalls nearby make the place marvellous. Every winter people come here for recreation and picnic.

Uruguayan Carnival is a festival that takes place every year in Uruguay from mid January to late February. It is related to candombe, Murga and tablados. It has evolved into a dance parade in which different comparsas play the drums and dance to the music at "Desfile Innaugural del Carnaval" and Llamadas parade. The biggest carnival celebrations are in the capital Montevideo and can last up to 40 days and it involves a series of cultural events such as dance parades in the streets, street stages called "tablados" and an artistic contest in the "Teatro de Verano" in Montevideo. Carnival in Montevideo is very different from carnival celebrations in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
