Using a guitar riff from America's "Ventura Highway" and the melody from Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie No. 1", "Someone to Call My Lover" talks about being determined to find a perfect match.

The song was written by group members Melanie Thornton and Lane McCray with Uli Brenner and Gerd Amir Saraf, who co-produced it with Frank Farian. It remains their most successful song, alongside "Sweet Dreams", and was a worldwide hit. In Europe, it was a number-one hit in the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, and Sweden, as well as on the Eurochart Hot 100. La Bouche won the 1996 Echo award in Germany in the category for Best Dance Single with "Be My Lover", and the ASCAP award in the US for the 'Most Played Song in America'. It was dubbed into many megamix tracks and has had several remix versions.

Nicolas Jean-Pierre Dresti, better known by his stage name Space Cowboy, is a French-British singer-songwriter, DJ, and producer. Born in France and raised in England, Dresti first recorded in 1992 under the names of Vibes and DJ Apex, releasing breakbeat hardcore tracks. He then changed his stage name to Nicky Fabulous and produced a four track extended play, Pussy Galore in 1995. He has recorded under various pseudonyms including: DJ Supreme, Kings of Rhythm, Loop Da Loop, and DJ Chrome. In 2002, Dresti changed his stage name to Space Cowboy and did a cover of Prince's song, "I Would Die 4 U." In 2003, Space Cowboy debuted his first studio album Across the Sky. On 22 June 2005, he released his second full-length album Big City Nights and his third album, Digital Rock, the next year. Digital Rock Star, a re-release of Digital Rock, debuted as his fourth studio album on 20 October 2009.

Nadia Georgina Oates is a former English singer, rapper, producer and model. She was featured on Space Cowboy's 2007 single "My Egyptian Lover". She has since released two studio albums—Hot Like Wow (2008) and Colours (2011)—both entirely produced by Space Cowboy. Since 2012, she has not released any new music and has most likely retired from the music industry.
Hot Like Wow is the debut album by British recording artist Nadia Oh. It was released in the United Kingdom on 13 April 2008 by Tiger Trax Records. It spawned four singles initially; My Egyptian Lover, Something for the Weekend, Nadia Oh and Got Your Number, all released between 2007–2008. Oh performed gigs in Tokyo to support the album. Although the album's final single was released in 2008, Oh released the album's fifth single, Rip It Up, 29 February 2012 via iTunes.
