Bertland "Bert" Cameron is a retired Jamaican sprinter who mainly competed over 400 metres. He represented Jamaica at three consecutive editions of the Summer Olympics. Cameron won the 400 m title at the first World Championships in Athletics. He was also the 1982 Commonwealth Games champion in the event and won a number of gold medals at regional competitions. He helped the Jamaican runners to a silver medal in the 4×400 metres relay at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Competing as Jane Colebrook, she equalled the world indoor best to win at the 1977 European Indoor Championships and won a bronze medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Competing as Jane Finch, she won a silver medal at the 1985 World Indoor Games.

Evis Jennings is an American retired sprinter. Running for Mississippi State University, he was the 1976 NCAA Indoor Champion at 440 yards.

Matthew Simson is a male British former shot putter. He was the gold medallist in the event at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, which he won with his career best throw of 19.49 m.

Simon Alexander Williams is a male British former shot putter and discus thrower. He was the gold medallist in the shot put at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. He also represented Great Britain in the discus at the 1991 World Championships in Athletics and the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Terrence Paul Brahm is an American former long-distance runner. He was the bronze medalist in the 3000 meters at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987 and represented the United States in the 5000 meters at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He was the 1986 NCAA champion in that event for the Indiana Hoosiers.

Paul Donovan (athlete) is an Irish former long-distance runner. He was the silver medallist in the 3000 metres at the 1987 IAAF World Indoor Championships. He was the number one ranked indoor runner that year. He represented Ireland at the Olympics twice: in 1984 and again in 1992.

Angie Vaughn is an American former track and field athlete who specialized in hurdles. She was the 100-meter hurdles winner at the 1998 Goodwill Games and a silver medalist in the event at the 1998 IAAF World Cup. Collegiately, she ran for the Texas Longhorns and was a three-time champion at NCAA-level, winning two hurdles title and one in the relay.

Johanna Nilsson was a Swedish middle- and long-distance runner. She was a bronze medallist at the European Cross Country Championships in 2005. Despite an early retirement in 2006 she had a highly successful collegiate career in the United States, winning three NCAA indoor titles and winning the NCAA Women's Division I Cross Country Championship in 2005. Her sister, Ida Nilsson, was also an international distance runner.

Scott Neilson is a Canadian former track and field athlete who competed in the hammer throw. His personal best was 72.72 m, set in Seattle on 1 April 1978.

Charles "Charlie" Craig is an American track and field coach and former triple jumper. He was the gold medalist at the 1967 Pan American Games and was an American champion both indoors and outdoors.

Antwon Hicks is an American/Nigerian track and field hurdler who competes in the 110-meter hurdles. He was the gold medallist in that event at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics – the first American to win that title. He was twice NCAA Indoor Champion in the 60-meter hurdles.

Suziann Reid is an American-Jamaican former track and field sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter dash. She set a personal record of 50.74 seconds for the distance in 1999. She was a silver medalist with the American women's 4 × 400-meter relay team at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics. She was part of the World Championship team twice more, in 2001 and 2005, and helped the United States to silver at the 2002 IAAF World Cup and gold at the 2001 Goodwill Games.

Charlton Ehizuelen is a Nigerian former track and field athlete who competed in the long jump and triple jump. He set personal bests of 8.26 m and 16.82 m for the events, respectively. The latter mark from 1975 remains the Nigerian indoor record.

Mircea Bogdan is a retired Romanian long-distance runner who specialized in the 3000 metres steeplechase.

Chris Nelloms is an American male former track and field sprinter who specialized in the 200- and 400-meter dash.

This is a list of the NCAA indoor champions in the short sprint event. Generally that was the 60 yard dash until 1983, 55 meter dash 1984 to 1999, and the 60 meters being contested thereafter. Hand timing was used until 1975, starting in 1976 fully automatic timing was used.
