Pandharpur is a Popular pilgrimage town, on the banks of Chandrabhagā River, near Solapur city in Solapur District, Maharashtra, India. Krantisinh Nana Patil established a parallel government in Satara district. He died on 6 December 1976.

Indumati Patankar (Indutai) (1925 – 2017) was a freedom fighter and long-time veteran activist living in rural India in Kasegaon, Maharashtra. Indutai's father Dinkarrao Nikam was in the freedom movement beginning in 1930 and became a Communist when he was in jail for satyagraha and met Communist leaders like Bhai V.D. Chitale. Indutai started reading books such as Volga te Ganga when she was 10–12 years old, took part in morning processions of Congress in the village, supported the families of freedom movement leaders staying at her home in Indoli, tal. Karad. She started going to Rashtra Seva Dal.
Nagnath Naikwadi (1922–2012), popularly known as Krantiveer Nagnath anna, was an Indian independence activist, social worker, politician and educationist, known for his revolutionary activism during the Indian independence struggle. He was an associate of Nana Patil during the Quit India movement and together they established Prati Sarkar, a parallel government, in Satara-Sangli region of Maharashtra and indulged in armed struggle against the British. After the Indian independence, he was involved in electoral politics and was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, representing Sangli. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2009, for his contributions to Indian society.
Vaduj is a major town in Satara district of Maharashtra, India. It is the headquarters of Khatav Taluka. It is located on the banks of the Yerala River, and is around 58 kilometres (36 mi) away from the district capital Satara, and 165 kilometres (103 mi) away from Pune. It is the biggest town in Khatav Taluka, with a population of around 17,636 people. Recently, its status was changed to Nagar Panchayat.
The Yerla River, alternatively Yerala River, is a tributary of Krishna River. It originates from the Mhaskoba hills in the extreme north of Khatav taluka of Satara district. It flows along a valley flanked by the Vardhangad range to its right and the Mahimangad range to its left and its total length is about 125 km.
