Nakamura is the second studio album from French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura. It was released on 2 November 2018 through Warner Music France. A deluxe edition was also released on 25 October 2019.
The album features guest appearances by Davido, Maluma and Niska. It was preceded by six singles, which are: "Djadja", "Copines", "La Dot", "Pookie", "Soldat" and "40%" all of which reached the top 10 in Nakamura's home country France. "Copines' also went viral on Instagram Reels in early 2021 after spawning a dance trend.[5]
Commercial performance
As well as its singles, "Nakamura" was a global success, debuting in France at number three, becoming her first top five album and top ten album overall after Journal Intime, which peaked at number 6.[6] The album would spent 156 weeks in the French Albums Chart, becoming her longuest-running charting album.
The album debuted at the top ten in the Netherlands, becoming her first album to achieved this. It would spent 95 weeks on the Dutch Albums Chart.[7]
The singer sold a total of 500,000 copies of this album in France where it was certified diamond; on which all the singles of it, and equally a few tracks, will be certified diamond. With this accomplishment, Nakamura became the first French female artist and first African female singer to achieving seven tracks out of 18 songs, eleven of it being either certified platinum or gold.
It will total 20,000 copies sold in Belgium where it is certified platinum. In total, the album sold more than 1 million copies worldwide two years after its release.
