Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong-Kumankumah is a Ghanaian politician, entrepreneur and currently the flagbearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP). [1] [2] In the 2024 Ghanaian general election, she stood as the candidate on the ticket of the Convention People's Party (CPP). [3] [4] [5]

Early life and education

Sarpong-Kumankumah was born on 5 February 1956 in Accra in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. [6] She had her secondary education at the Mfantsiman Girls’ Secondary School and she further went to Kumasi Polytechnic. [7] She further went to Washington School for Secretaries, and also Montgomery Community College, and later, Notre Dame University. [6]

Political career

Sarpong-Kumankumah is a member of the Convention People's Party (CPP). [7] [8]

She is a former National Chairperson of the CPP. [9] [10] [11]

In September 2024, she took part in the CPP's Presidential Primary and emerged as the winner. She won with 763 votes whiles her opponent Yaw Anokye Frimpong had 586 votes out of the 1360 votes cast. [12]

In September 2024, she was approved by the Electoral Commission of Ghana to contest in the 2024 Ghanaian general election on the ticket of the CPP. [13]

Awards

In 2021, Sarpong-Kumankumah was named the Female Politician of the Year by West Africa International, Publishers of West Africa International Magazine at the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Ghana. [14]
