Nancy Ann Lange Kuczynski (born January 20, 1954) is an American investment and marketing professional and Peruvian resident. She served as the First Lady of Peru from 2016 to 2018 as the wife of President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski. [1] [2]

Life and work

Lange is from the town of Rock Springs, Wisconsin and was born in nearby Baraboo, Wisconsin in 1954. [1] She has three siblings - one sister and two brothers. [2] She is not the cousin of American actress Jessica Lange, although this has been widely reported in the media. [1] [3] Lange studied political science and international relations at the University of Wisconsin. She then received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin. [2] Following the completion of her MBA, Lange lived and worked abroad in Japan and other countries. [2]

Lange married Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, an economist and politician, in 1996. [1] [4] The couple have one daughter together, Suzanne, who graduated in biology from Princeton University. [1] [4]

During the 2016 Peruvian general election, Lange played an essential role in her husband's campaign as an advisor and organizer. [1] She traveled extensively to campaign on his behalf. [1] Lange created "Chambeando por el Perú", which promoted a series of social reforms in remote areas of the country. [1] [2]

First Lady of Peru

Nancy Lange became First Lady of Peru on July 28, 2016.

One of Lange's first public events as first lady was the march protesting violence against women known as "Ni una menos." [1] She has extensively promoted firemen's efforts in Lima, as well other education and health initiatives across the country. [1]

She has served as the leader of the Fujimorist political party Popular Force since 2010, and was a congresswoman representing the Lima Metropolitan Area, from 2006 to 2011. Fujimori ran for president in the 2011, 2016, and 2021 elections, but was defeated each time in the second round of voting.

Kenji Gerardo Fujimori Higuchi is a Peruvian businessman, politician and a former congressman representing Lima from 2011 until he was suspended from congressional duty in June 2018, in aftermath of the Mamanivideos scandal. He is the son of former President Alberto Fujimori and former First Lady and congresswoman Susana Higuchi. He has three siblings: Hiro Alberto, Sachi Marcela and Keiko Fujimori. In the 2011 elections, he ran for Congress in the constituency of Lima, under the Force 2011, a Fujimorist political party led by his sister Keiko, being the most voted congressman in 2011. In the 2016 elections, he was re-elected for a second term to Congress, once again representing the same constituency, under the Popular Force, as he received a high number of votes and being the most voted congressman in 2016.
