The National Food Agency (Indonesian: Badan Pangan Nasional; BPN) is a non-ministerial government agency in Indonesia responsible for carrying out government duties in the food sector, including coordinating, formulating, setting, and implementing policies regarding food availability, supply and price stabilization, food and nutrition security, food consumption diversification, and food safety. [1] These governmental functions were previously scattered across various ministries before being streamlined into the agency. [1]
Established on July 29, 2021, through Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2021, [2] the National Food Agency succeeded the Food Security Agency (BPK) and inherited its functions and tasks. The head of the agency is directly responsible to the President of Indonesia. [3] The types of food that fall under the agency's jurisdiction include rice, corn, soybeans, sugar for consumption, onion, poultry eggs, ruminant meat, poultry meat, and chili. [4]
In 1999, the Agency for Food Security Affairs (BUKP) was established through Presidential Decree Number 136 of 1999 with its tasks including developing food security policies based on the directives of the Minister of Agriculture. By the following year, the BUKP was merged with the Secretariat for Control (Setdal) to form the Food Security and Resilience Agency (BBKP) through Presidential Decree Number 177 of 2000. Through regulations Minister of Agriculture Regulation Number 61 of 2010, Presidential Regulation Number 45 of 2015, and Minister of Agriculture Regulation Number 40 of 2015, The Food Security and Resilience Agency (BBKP) was transformed into the Food Security Agency (BKP) and assigned the responsibilities of coordinating and formulating policies to strengthen food security and diversification. On July 29, 2021, President Joko Widodo officially established the National Food Agency through Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2021, assuming the responsibilities and functions of the BPK and tasked with executing government duties in the food sector. Law enforcement in Indonesia is mainly performed by the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), together with other law enforcement agencies which are under the president, a certain ministry or State-owned company (BUMN) which perform policing duties for a certain public service, these law enforcement agencies are under supervision and are trained by the Indonesian National Police. The Indonesian National Police is basically the national civilian police force of the country responsible for enforcing law and order of the state.
The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure, abbreviated as BNPB, is the Indonesian board for natural disaster affairs. It was established in 2008 to replace the National Disaster Management Coordinating Board. BNPB is directly responsible to the President of Indonesia and the chairman is directly appointed by the President.
The National Standardization Agency of Indonesia is the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) member body for Indonesia. BSN is a non-ministerial Indonesian government agency with the main task of carrying out governmental tasks in the field of standardization and conformity assessment in Indonesia. The agency is also responsible to develop and maintain the Indonesian National Standard.
The Ministry of Defense is an Indonesian government ministry responsible for the defense of Indonesia. The ministry was formerly known as the Department of Defense until 2009 when the nomenclature changed based on Act Number 39 of 2008 on State Ministries, the name of the Department of Defense was changed to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia. The currently-appointed minister is Prabowo Subianto, replacing Ryamizard Ryacudu on 23 October 2019.
Geospatial Information Agency is the national mapping agency of Indonesia. BIG was formerly named National Coordinator for Survey and Mapping Agency. This national agency is responsible for Indonesian geospatial information per one map policy implementation. In 2010, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stated that Indonesia should have a single referenced map, so there would not be any differences in spatial data for country development.
The Indonesian Maritime Security Agency is a maritime patrol and rescue agency of the Republic of Indonesia. Bakamla is a non-ministerial government institution which reports directly to the President through Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. Bakamla's duty is to conduct security and safety patrols in the territorial waters of Indonesia and the jurisdiction of Indonesia. Previously Bakamla was a non-structural institution called the Coordinating Agency for the Security of the Republic of Indonesia. The agency is not part or associated with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, although its top-ranking leadership are handpicked from the Indonesian Navy. Bakamla and the Indonesian Navy, however, often conduct exercises and joint-operation together. While during search-and-rescue operations, Bakamla also conduct joint-operations with the National Search and Rescue Agency.
The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency is a ministry of the Republic of Indonesia that has the task to oversee government affairs in the field of national development planning to assist the President in organizing state government. The minister is responsible to the President. The Ministry of National Development Planning uses organizational units and resources within the National Development Planning Agency.

Formed through certain legislative and executive acts, non-structural institutions are formed to support the overall functions of the state and government, addressing specific needs/tasks that cannot be as efficiently handled by existing ministries and agencies. Funding for these organizations come from the national budget (APBN).
