The National Park Service (NPS; traditional Chinese :內政部國家公園署; simplified Chinese :内政部国家公园署; pinyin :Nèizhèng Bù Guójiā Gōngyuán Shǔ) is the government agency of the Ministry of the Interior of Taiwan responsible for the management of national parks, national nature parks, wetlands, and coastal areas. History

National Park Service was established on 20 September 2023, in accordance with the Organization Act of the National Park Service, Ministry of the Interior. [1]

The agency was established under the Ministry of the Interior after the National Parks Division was separated out of the former Construction and Planning Agency (CPA). The nine national park headquarters of Kenting, Yushan, Yangminshan, Taroko, Shei-Pa, Kinmen, Taijiang, Marine National Parks and Natural National Park, which were previously under the CPA, were now merged into the National Park Service. Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), is a country in East Asia. The island of Taiwan, also known as Formosa, has an area of 35,808 square kilometres (13,826 sq mi) and makes up 99% of the land under ROC control. Formosan black bears are endemic to Taiwan. They are also the largest land animals and the only native bears (Ursidae) in Taiwan. They are seen to represent the Taiwanese nation.

The Coast Guard Administration of the Ocean Affairs Council (CGA), also operating as the ROC Coast Guard, is charged with maintaining law and order, protecting the resources of the territorial waters of the Republic of China (Taiwan), which surrounds Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu Islands, Green Island, Orchid Island, Pratas Island (Tungsha/Dongsha), and Nansha Islands as well as providing a first line of defense along coastal areas against smugglers and illegal immigrants. The CGA is considered a civilian law enforcement agency under the administration of the Ocean Affairs Council of the Executive Yuan, though during emergencies it may be incorporated as part of the Republic of China Armed Forces.

Yushan National Park is one of the nine national parks in Taiwan and was named after the summit Yushan, the highest peak of the park. The park covers a total area of 103,121 hectares that includes large sections of the Central Mountain Range. The park contains more than thirty peaks over 3,000 metres (9,843 ft) in elevation, and two-thirds of the area within the park is above 2,000 metres (6,562 ft). The elevation difference in the park is 3,600 metres (11,811 ft), and there are many canyons, cliffs, and valleys.

Paiyun Lodge is an accommodation mountain lodge in Taiwan's Yushan National Park, with an altitude of 3,402 metres (11,161 ft) and located 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) below the west slope of the main peak of Yushan. This is the most famous and popular mountain lodge in Taiwan. Hikers come here to rest and stay before climbing the peaks of Yushan Mountain. Due to extreme popularity, a lottery is required for this accommodation. The winning rate has been recorded as low as 1%. Since January 2002, Paiyun Lodge was originally operated and managed by the Forestry Bureau, but has now been fully managed by the Yushan National Park Headquarters. Today, the appearance of Paiyun Lodge is a two-story steel frame structure after the renovation was completed in June 2013. In terms of energy system, a solar power supply system is installed on the roof, and a lithium-ion battery energy storage system is installed.
