The Karals, or Ahluwalias were also known as Nebs. They were originally known to be natives of Patiala and Nabha states in the Sikh Empire, now part of both India and Pakistan. Historically, they were involved in trading, art of traditional pottery and in the Dal Khalsa (Sikh army). During British rule, they started working in the civil jobs. They were known to be of great characteristics within the community. Presently, they are working in various other fields. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Majority of them follow either Hinduism or Sikhism. A small minority of them profess Islam and are known as Kakazai. [2] [4]
