Nettur Technical Training Foundation operates more than 20 training centers around India. These centers are located in the cities of:
On 12 April 1958, the Nettur Technical Training Foundation, the successor to the CSI Technical Training Institute, was established as a joint venture between Church of South India and HEKS (Hilfswerk der Evangelischen Kirchen der Schweiz) of Switzerland. According to HEKS's website, the project's initial funds were raised from regional established churches in Zürich, Aargau, Basel and Schaffhausen.
On 24 November 1959, Mr. Kaderkutty, managing director of Western India Plywoods, Valapattanam, formally inaugurated the training center at Nettur. The first batch of tool and die-maker trainees, 16 boys, were admitted in November 1959. They subsequently appeared for NCTVT (National Council for Training in Vocational Trades, presently known as NCVT) in January 1962 and completed the four-year course in 1964. The initial plan was a 3.5-year training period, but it was extended to four years, which remains in effect today.
Swiss technical expert Alfred Frischknecht was HEKS' first appointee to principal of the Nettur centre. After seven years in India, he relocated to HEKS's headquarters in Zürich, Switzerland to direct development projects.
It was realised from its inception that the institution would be costly to set up and maintain. The Church of South India placed some of its land and buildings at Nettur, Tellicherry at the institute's disposal. Some buildings were reconditioned and a few new ones were built by NTTF. The donor agencies assured the necessary funds, supplies of adequate machine tools and accessories, and deputation of technical experts from abroad.
In 1964, another training centre was established in Dharwad, Karnataka, again on property donated by the CSI church of Karnataka; and another center was established the same year in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The centre's headquarters was moved to Peenya, Bangalore after the establishment of a toolroom and training center there in 1978.
National Highway 4 was a major National Highway before National Highway renumbering in Western and Southern India. NH 4 linked four of the 10 most populous Indian cities – Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Chennai. NH 4 was 1,235 km (767 mi) in length and passed through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is now numbered as National Highway 48 (India). National Highway 4 was known as P.B.Road in many parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka states before it was renumbered.

The 1951–52 Indian general election was the first democratic national election held in India after Independence, and the polls in Madras state were held for 62 constituencies with 75 seats. This State had the second largest number of seats, after Uttar Pradesh. The result was a victory for Indian National Congress winning 35 out of the 75 seats. While the remaining seats were won by left and independent parties, opposed to Congress. However, Congress stalwarts such as N. G. Ranga, Durgabai Deshmukh, and Mosalikanti Thirumala Rao lost in that election from the Telugu-speaking areas then referred as Andhra. Congress lost in 22 out of the 28 seats in majority Telugu-speaking areas. Reason for the poor performance in Andhra region was attributed to the party's delay in the formation of a separate State for Telugu people. It eventually led to the formation of the Andhra State in 1953 and later the linguistic reorganization of Indian states in 1956 where Kannada and Malayalam majority speaking areas were merged with Mysore and Kerala States respectively.

Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad is an autonomous engineering and technology institute in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus, previously of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in Belur Industrial Area, on the outskirts of Dharwad city.
