As of the census [1] of 2000, there were 943 people, 329 households, and 273 families residing in the town. The population density was 27.2 people per square mile (10.5/km2). There were 337 housing units at an average density of 9.7 per square mile (3.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.77% White, 0.21% Black or African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.42% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races. 0.74% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 329 households, out of which 41.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.3% were married couples living together, 4.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.0% were non-families. 12.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.15.
