Suffolk County is the easternmost county in the U.S. state of New York. It is bordered to its west by Nassau County, to its east by Gardiners Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, to its north by Long Island Sound, and to its south by Great South Bay. The county is part of the Long Island region of the state, of which it comprises the eastern two-thirds.
Patricia A. Eddington served from 2001 through 2009 in the New York State Assembly, representing District 3 which comprises Patchogue, Medford, Coram and Yaphank, among other neighboring communities within Suffolk County, New York. She stepped down from the Assembly after winning an election for Town Clerk of Brookhaven, New York in November 2009.
New York's 3rd State Senate district is one of 63 districts of the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Republican L. Dean Murray since 2023. For the 2022 election, the 3rd district was redistricted from the old 4th district.
