Nicholas Ovundah Eze Emmanwori (born February 7, 2004) is an American football safety for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Emmanwori grew up in Irmo, South Carolina and attended Irmo High School. [1] As a senior, he was listed as a 3-star recruit. Emmanwori committed to play college football at the University of South Carolina for the 2022 recruiting cycle. [2] [3]
Entering his freshman season South Carolina debated playing Emmanwori as a linebacker or safety, ultimately deciding to play him at safety. [4] In his first two collegiate starts, he would record 11 and 14 tackles against Arkansas and Georgia respectively. [5] As a true freshman in 2022, Emmanwori would emerge as a key player for the Gamecocks, recording a team high 78 tackles and being named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. [6] [7] [8] As a junior in 2024, he was named to the All-SEC first team and was named a first team All-American by the Associated Press. [9]

The team's head coach was Steve Spurrier, who was in his fifth season at USC. The Gamecocks played their home games at Williams–Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. Carolina finished the season 7–6, winning the Palmetto Bowl over in-state rival Clemson 34–17 in their final regular season game, before losing in the PapaJohns.com Bowl 20–7 against Connecticut.
Jadeveon Davarus Clowney is an American professional football linebacker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks, where he won the Ted Hendricks Award, and was selected first overall by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL draft. Clowney was a member of the Texans for five seasons, earning three consecutive Pro Bowl selections during his final years with the team. Following his departure from Houston, he played with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens.
Travaris Jerod Robinson is an American football coach and former safety who is the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach at the University of Georgia. Prior to that, he was the cornerbacks coach at the University of Alabama and the defensive backs coach at the University of Miami. He played college football at Auburn. Steve Spurrier, former national championship-winning head football coach at the University of Florida, served as the head coach of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks football team from November 23, 2004, until October 12, 2015. It was Spurrier's fifth tenure as a head coach, his second longest tenure as a head coach, and his third and final tenure as a head coach in college football. He served as South Carolina's 32nd head coach, as well as their second-longest-tenured head coach.
