Nicholas John Haste (born 13 November 1972) is an English former first-class cricketer.
Haste was born at Northampton in November 1972. He was educated at Wellingborough School, before going up to Pembroke College,Cambridge. [1] While studying at Cambridge,he played first-class cricket for Cambridge University Cricket Club between 1993 and 1996,making 32 appearances. [2] Playing as a medium pace bowler in the Cambridge side,Haste took 49 wickets at an average of 60.26. [3] He took one five wicket haul, with figures of 5 for 73 against Oxford University in the 1995 University Match at Lord's. [4] His bowling action in the match was described by Norman Harris of The Independent as having a "purposeful stride and vigorous action" and that "he looked a genuinely first-class bowler". [5] As a lower order batsman,he scored 372 runs at a batting average of 13.28 from his 32 matches; [6] he made one half century,a score of 51 against Oxford University in 1996. [7] After graduating from Cambridge,Haste did not proceed further in the first-class game. Peter Granville Lee )born 27 August 1945),affectionately known as "Leapy",is a former cricketer who played for Northamptonshire and Lancashire County Cricket Clubs. He was a right-arm fast-medium bowler who moved the ball off the seam and became among the most effective bowlers in English county cricket during the 1970s. Presumably because his batting was impotent as shown by his highest first-class score in more than 200 matches being 26,Lee appears never to have been considered seriously for Test cricket. He toured South Africa twice with teams organised by Derrick Robins. He was born at Arthingworth,Northamptonshire.
Harry Storer was an English professional footballer, cricketer and football manager.
1947 was the 48th season of County Championship cricket in England. It is chiefly remembered for the batting performances of Denis Compton and Bill Edrich who established seasonal records that, with the subsequent reduction in the number of first-class matches, will probably never be broken. Their form was key to their team Middlesex winning the County Championship for the first time since 1921,although they were involved in a tight contest for the title with the eventual runners-up Gloucestershire, for whom Tom Goddard was the most outstanding bowler of the season. Compton and Edrich were assisted by the fact that it was the driest and sunniest English summer for a generation, ensuring plenty of good batting wickets.
Michael Burns is an English first-class list cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer who played county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset in a first-class career which spanned from 1992 until 2005. From his rained-off debut in 1938,Vigar went on to play 257 matches for his county. His greatest success came in the "golden summer" of 1947,where he scored 1,735 runs and took 64 wickets. A partnership with Peter Smith of 218 for the final wicket remains an Essex record.
John William Lee,generally known as Jack Lee,was an English cricketer who played for Somerset from 1925 to 1936,having played one match for Middlesex in 1923. He was an all-rounder,scoring six centuries and taking ten wickets in a match on two occasions by the end of his career. Duleepsinhji, and then as the official captain later in the 1933 season.
