Nidingen is a Swedish Kattegat sea area skerry with a lighthouse station. It is located in Onsala parish in Kungsbacka Municipality in the province (landskap) of Halland. The island has with its surrounding reefs always posed a danger to shipping. The three lighthouses on the island, one of which is active, are today protected as heritage buildings. [1] [2] [3] The island is also a nature reserve with a birding station and hostel, famous for large populations of different bird species.
The province of Halland and Nidingen was ruled by Denmark until the Second Treaty of Brömsebro 1645. The Danes had lit primitive navigation fires on the island before, and also built a "vippefyr", but now it became one of Sweden's earliest light stations. In the 18th century, the vippefyr was replaced by fires placed on stone cairns, which in turn were replaced by two new stone towers in 1834. They were built even higher in 1847 and were equipped with lanterns and fresnel lenses. In 1884, the colza oil lamps were replaced by kerosene lamps with improved luminosity. The historic lighthouses was in use until 1946 when a new modern tower was completed. The lighthouse was electrified through a connection with cable from the mainland.
In the 1960s, the lighthouse's lens equipment was electrified. In 1973, an automatic rotation of the lens was installed around the clock while the lighting of the lamps was controlled by photocells. From the turn of the year 1978–79, Nidingen lighthouse became fully automated and unmanned. It was reported several times in the 2000s that the lighthouse could be deactivated when it was no longer considered necessary for shipping, [4] but it remained in use. In 2019 it was reported that the Swedish Maritime Administration, Sjöfartsverket, plans to convert it to be powered by solar cells. [5]

Valsörarna or Valassaaret is a small archipelago in Korsholm, Finland, located in the Kvarken region of the Gulf of Bothnia. The islands are the last you see when going by boat or ferry from Vaasa, Finland to Umeå, Sweden. The archipelago is detached from Korsholm's main Replot-Björkö archipelago. They are uninhabited and there is no road access. However, they are an important bird sanctuary, frequented by birdwatchers and ornithologists. They are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List along with the High Coast of Sweden and the archipelago of Kvarken, for exhibiting the effects of land rise due to post-glacial rebound.
Konradsberg or Konradsbergs hospital is a former mental hospital on the island of Kungsholmen in Stockholm, Sweden. The Stockholm Institute of Education now uses the old hospital building. From August 2009 the charter school Stockholm's International Montessori School used the building.

The island is also known for its large beaches that are good for bathing. In 2006 the Swedish state surveying Lantmäteriverket decided that the whole island belonged to the Church of Sweden due to an old agreement from 1753.
The Ontonagon Light is a lighthouse located off M-64 near Ontonagon, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1973.

När Lighthouse is a Swedish lighthouse located outside the village När on the southeast side of the island Gotland. It was constructed in 1872, the sketchings were made by architect John Höjer. It is located in a nature reserve and birding area. It is a listed building in Sweden.
Pite-Rönnskär is a Swedish island with lighthouse station located in the Bothnian Bay. The island is located at the border between the provinces of Västerbotten and Norrbotten but belongs to Skellefteå Municipality. The island was a well known fishing village for many years and contains a chapel dating from 1771. In 1821 a pilot station was located on the island. Today the fishing cabins on the island is used as summer residences. The island has a weather station, and wind observations from it is reported by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute in their shipping forecast.
