Noel Berkeley (born 20 December 1964) is an Irish long-distance runner. He competed in the men's 10,000 metres at the 1992 Summer Olympics. [1] He competed collegiately in the United States and attended the University of Oklahoma. [2] [3]

Louis Tewanima, also known as Tsökahovi Tewanima and Lewis Tewanima, was an American two-time Olympic distance runner and silver medalist in the 10,000 meter run in 1912. He was a Hopi Indian and ran for the Carlisle Indian School where he was a teammate of Jim Thorpe. His silver medal in 1912 remained the best U.S. achievement in this event until another Native American, Billy Mills, won the gold medal in 1964. Tewanima also competed at the 1908 Olympics, finishing in ninth place in the marathon.

The men's marathon at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place on 24 August at 7:30am in Beijing, ending in the Beijing National Stadium. It was the last time in Summer Olympics history that the start and/or finish of the men's marathon route was located inside the Olympic Stadium. Ninety-five athletes from 56 nations competed. The winner of the event was Samuel Wanjiru of Kenya, who set an Olympic record in the time of two hours, six minutes, and 32 seconds. It was Kenya's first victory in the men's marathon. Morocco won its first medal in the event since 1960, with Jaouad Gharib's silver. Tsegay Kebede of Ethiopia took bronze.

Noël Vandernotte was a French rowing coxswain who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He was the son of Fernand Vandernotte and the nephew of Marcel Vandernotte. In 1936 he won the bronze medal of the French boat in the coxed pairs event as well as in the coxed four competition. He was the youngest male medalist at the 1936 Games, at 12 years and 233 days, and is also the youngest French Olympic medalist of all-time.

Nicholas Henry Rose is a British former international track and field athlete. He competed in a variety of middle-distance and long-distance running events. He is the current European record holder in the 10K run (road), and British record holder in the 4×1 mile relay event. He set the world record in the half-marathon in 1979. His personal best in the half-marathon is 1:01:03, the second fastest British time after Steve Jones. He also held the British record in the indoor 2 miles event with 8:18.4—a record which stood for 24 years exactly.

Noel Gertrude Oxenbury, later known by her married name Noel Morrow, was a Canadian swimmer who competed at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin in the 100-metre backstroke event, but was eliminated in the first round. Two years later she competed at the 1938 British Empire Games in Sydney and won a gold medal in the 4×110-yard freestyle relay alongside Phyllis Dewar, Dorothy Lyon and Mary Baggaley. She also placed fourth in the 3×110-yard medley relay with Baggaley and Joan Langdon and competed in the 110 yd backstroke. She was born in New Westminster, British Columbia. Since 2004 she has competed in backstroke events at Canadian Masters Championships and won a gold medal in the 100m backstroke event in the 90-94 age classification. On October 4, 2003, she was inducted as a member of the Swim B.C. Hall of Fame.

Jacques Noël was a French fencer. He won a gold medal in the team foil event at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He also competed at the 1951 Mediterranean Games where he won a silver medal in the team foil event.

Paul McCloy is a Canadian long-distance runner. He competed in the men's 10,000 metres at the 1988 Summer Olympics. McCloy won a bronze medal at the 1987 Pan American Games in the 10,000 metres. His Canadian record for the men's 10k road race (28:17), set in Orlando Florida on 21 February 1987 held for over 35 years until June 26, 2022 when Ben Flanagan from Kitchener, Ont., ran 28 minutes 11 seconds (28:11) at the BAA 10K competition in Boston. McCloy continues to hold the course record for the annual Tely 10 Road Race held in his hometown of St. John's, NL, with a time of 47:04 over 10 miles set in 1985.

Antonio 'Tony' Martins Bordelo is a French former professional long-distance runner. He competed in the men's 10,000 metres at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
