Brian Thomas Burke is an Australian former politician who was the 23rd premier of Western Australia from 25 February 1983 to his resignation on 25 February 1988. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 30 March 1973 to 25 February 1988,representing the electoral districts of Balga and Balcatta at various points,and was the leader of the Australian Labor Party in Western Australia from 18 September 1981 to 25 February 1988. Burke studied law at the University of Western Australia for one year before dropping out. During the 1960s and early 1970s,he worked as a journalist for The West Australian newspaper,6PM radio station,and Seven News Perth. He was elected to Parliament at the 1973 Balcatta state by-election,becoming one of the most popular local members over the following years. In 1981,he became the leader of the Labor Party in a leadership spill. He led the Labor Party to its first election victory since 1971 at the 1983 Western Australian state election,defeating the Liberal-National government of Ray O'Connor.
The Electoral district of Brown Hill-Ivanhoe was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia. It covered part of the Goldfields city of Boulder,near Kalgoorlie,and neighbouring mining areas. It was created at the 1911 redistribution out of the former seats of Brown Hill and Ivanhoe,and was first contested at the 1911 election. It was abolished in the 1948 redistribution,with its area split between the neighbouring electorates of Boulder and Hannans,taking effect from the 1950 election. The seat was a very safe one for the Labor Party.

It is affiliated with the National Party of Australia,but maintains a separate structure and identity. Since the 2021 state election,the Nationals WA is the senior party in an opposition alliance with the WA Liberal Party in the WA Parliament. Prior to the election,the National Party was sitting in the crossbench,and the Liberal Party was the sole opposition party. The election resulted in the National Party winning more seats than the Liberal Party,and gaining official opposition status. Barry John MacKinnon is a former Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1977 to 1993. Matthew Lewis Moss KC was a lawyer and politician who served in the Parliament of Western Australia on three separate occasions –in the Legislative Assembly from 1895 to 1897,and in the Legislative Council from 1900 to 1901 and again from 1902 to 1914. He was a minister in the governments of Alf Morgans (1901),Walter James (1902–1904),and Hector Rason (1905–1906). Moss was born in New Zealand and arrived in Western Australia in 1891. He left for England in 1914 and spent the rest of his life there,although he maintained connections with Australia,on two occasions acting as Agent-General for Western Australia.
Sir James Daniel Connolly was an Australian politician who served in both houses of the Parliament of Western Australia. He was a member of the Legislative Council from 1901 to 1914 and a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1914 to 1917,and served as a minister in the governments of Newton Moore and Frank Wilson. Connolly spent much of his later life in the United Kingdom,where he served as agent-general for Western Australia and Malta.
Charles Farquharson Baxter was an Australian politician who was a Country Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1914 until his death. He was a minister in the governments of Henry Lefroy,Hal Colebatch,and James Mitchell.
Sir Norbert Michael Keenan QC was an Australian lawyer and politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1905 to 1911 and again from 1930 to 1950. He was the leader of the Nationalist Party from 1933 to 1938,during the time when it was the junior partner in the coalition with the Country Party. Keenan had earlier served as a minister in the government of Newton Moore and the second government of Sir James Mitchell.
Norman Eric Baxter was an Australian politician who was a member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1950 to 1958 and again from 1960 to 1983. He was a minister in the government of Sir Charles Court.
