Norman Frederick Moore AM (born 24 August 1945) is a former Western Australian politician. From 2008 to 2013 he was Minister for Mines and Petroleum;Fisheries;Electoral Affairs and Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council. From 12 to 29 June 2012,he was the Minister for Justice. He held a seat for the Electoral region of Mining and Pastoral and is a member of the Liberal Party. [1]
Born in Kalgoorlie,Moore worked as a high school principal before entering the Western Australian Legislative Council in 1977 as a member of the Lower North Province,defeating incumbent Labor member Stan Dellar in that year's state election. He was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Cabinet from 5 March 1980 to 22 January 1982 under Sir Charles Court,took up several opposition appointments from 1984 to 1993,and held numerous ministerial portfolios in the Court–Cowan Ministry such as education,sport and recreation,mines and tourism. From 1997 to 2013 he was the "Father of the House" in the Council chamber. From 2001 to 2008,he was the leader of the opposition in the Western Australian Legislative Council and held various shadow positions relating to mines and policy development. [1] In September 2005,he discussed his concerns over the decline of federalism in his own party,and the possibility of Western Australia seceding from the rest of the country. [2] After the 2008 state election,he was appointed to the Barnett Ministry. [1] On 1 February 2012,he announced that he would retire at the 2013 state election. [3]

In 2001,he received a Centenary Medal for "service to Australian society through parliament". [4] He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2016. [5]
Brian Thomas Burke is an Australian former politician who was the 23rd premier of Western Australia from 25 February 1983 to his resignation on 25 February 1988. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 30 March 1973 to 25 February 1988,representing the electoral districts of Balga and Balcatta at various points,and was the leader of the Australian Labor Party in Western Australia from 18 September 1981 to 25 February 1988. Burke studied law at the University of Western Australia for one year before dropping out. During the 1960s and early 1970s,he worked as a journalist for The West Australian newspaper,6PM radio station,and Seven News Perth. He was elected to Parliament at the 1973 Balcatta state by-election,becoming one of the most popular local members over the following years. In 1981,he became the leader of the Labor Party in a leadership spill. He led the Labor Party to its first election victory since 1971 at the 1983 Western Australian state election,defeating the Liberal-National government of Ray O'Connor.
The Electoral district of Brown Hill-Ivanhoe was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia. It covered part of the Goldfields city of Boulder,near Kalgoorlie,and neighbouring mining areas. It was created at the 1911 redistribution out of the former seats of Brown Hill and Ivanhoe,and was first contested at the 1911 election. It was abolished in the 1948 redistribution,with its area split between the neighbouring electorates of Boulder and Hannans,taking effect from the 1950 election. The seat was a very safe one for the Labor Party.

The National Party of Australia (WA) Inc,branded The Nationals WA,is a political party in Western Australia. It is affiliated with the National Party of Australia,but maintains a separate structure and identity. Since the 2021 state election,the Nationals WA is the senior party in an opposition alliance with the WA Liberal Party in the WA Parliament. Prior to the election,the National Party was sitting in the crossbench,and the Liberal Party was the sole opposition party. The election resulted in the National Party winning more seats than the Liberal Party,and gaining official opposition status. Under the opposition alliance,the National Party leader and deputy leader would be the opposition leader and deputy opposition leader,respectively,the first since 1947,and each party would maintain their independence from each other.

Matthew Lewis Moss KC was a lawyer and politician who served in the Parliament of Western Australia on three separate occasions –in the Legislative Assembly from 1895 to 1897,and in the Legislative Council from 1900 to 1901 and again from 1902 to 1914. He was a minister in the governments of Alf Morgans (1901),Walter James (1902–1904),and Hector Rason (1905–1906). Moss was born in New Zealand and arrived in Western Australia in 1891. He left for England in 1914 and spent the rest of his life there,although he maintained connections with Australia,on two occasions acting as Agent-General for Western Australia.
Sir James Daniel Connolly was an Australian politician who served in both houses of the Parliament of Western Australia. He was a member of the Legislative Council from 1901 to 1914 and a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1914 to 1917,and served as a minister in the governments of Newton Moore and Frank Wilson. Connolly spent much of his later life in the United Kingdom,where he served as agent-general for Western Australia and Malta.

Sir Norbert Michael Keenan QC was an Australian lawyer and politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1905 to 1911 and again from 1930 to 1950. He was the leader of the Nationalist Party from 1933 to 1938,during the time when it was the junior partner in the coalition with the Country Party. Keenan had earlier served as a minister in the government of Newton Moore and the second government of Sir James Mitchell.
