The North Texas League was a Class D level minor baseball league that played during the 1905 and 1907 seasons. The league featured teams based in Arkansas and Texas.
The 1905 North Texas League consisted of four charter teams, initially all from Texas. They were the Paris Parasites, of Paris, the Greenville Midlands of Greenville, an un-nicknamed team from Clarksville and an un-nicknamed team from Texarkana. Partway through the year, the Paris club moved to Hope, Arkansas, making it the only non-Texas city to be represented in the league. Clarksville disbanded on July 21 after going 34–42, while Texarcana - with a 36–46 record - disbanded on August 2, forcing the league to disband on August 6, 1905. The Parasites finished first in the league with a 48–32 record, while the Midlands had a 41–40 record. [1] Dode Criss and Clyde Milan played in the league that year.
The North Texas League did not play in 1906.
Reformed in 1907, the North Texas League featured the Corsicana Oilers/Desperados of Corsicana, Paris Athletics, Greenville Hunters and Terrell Red Stockings of Terrell. Corsicana finished first in the league with a 38–21 record, while Paris was 36–23, Greenville was 24–35 and Terrell was 18–38. Greenville folded on June 28, 1907, causing the league to cease operations on June 30, 1907. Notable players include Hippo Vaughn. [2] and Bill Yohe.

The Texas League is a Minor League Baseball league which has operated in the South Central United States since 1902. It is classified as a Double-A league. Despite the league's name, only its five South Division teams are actually based in the state of Texas; the five North Division teams are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as Double-A Central before reassuming its original moniker in 2022.
The Arkansas State League was an American minor league baseball league that played in various seasons between 1894 and 1935, forming three different times. The first version was in operation in 1894, followed by an 1897 league. The Class D level league operated from 1908 to 1909 in Arkansas and Louisiana and also in 1934 to 1935 in Arkansas and Missouri. In 1936, the league evolved to become the Arkansas-Missouri League. Little Rock and Rogers each won two league championships.
The East Texas League was a Texas–based minor league baseball league that existed between 1916 and 1950. The East Texas League played as a Class D level league in 1916 and from 1923 to 1926. From 1949 to 1954, the Eagles played exclusively as members of the Class B level Big State League, winning the 1952 league pennant and qualifying for the playoffs in three seasons. The Corsicana Oilers was the primary nickname of the minor league baseball teams based in Corsicana, Texas. In the seasons between 1902 and 1928, Corsicana teams played as members of the Texas League (1902–1905), North Texas League (1907), Central Texas League, Texas-Oklahoma League (1922), Texas Association (1923–1926) and Lone Star League (1927–1928), winning five league championships. Corsicana hosted minor league home games at Oil City Park and Athletic Park.
The Central Texas League was a minor league baseball league that played from 1914 to 1917. The Central Texas League played as a six–team Class D level league and consisted of teams based exclusively in Texas. The Central Texas League never completed a full season in its four seasons of play and was sometimes called the Central Texas Trolley League. The Ennis Tigers played in each season of the league, which had a different champion each season.
The Ennis Tigers were a minor league baseball franchise based in Ennis, Texas. From 1914 to 1917, the Tigers played exclusively as members of the Class D level Central Texas League. Ennis played for the duration of the Central Texas League, winning the 1915 league championship.
The Marlin Marlins were a minor league baseball team based in Marlin, Texas. The "Marlins" played in 1916 and 1917 as members of the Class D level Central Texas League, The Marlins were succeeded by the Marlin Bathers who played as members of the Class D level Texas Association from 1923 to 1925. The Kaufman Kings were a minor league baseball team based in Kaufman, Texas. In 1915, the Kings played as members of the Class D level Central Texas League in the only season of minor league baseball hosted in Kaufman.
The Mexia Gassers were a minor league baseball franchise based in Mexia, Texas. From 1915 to 1917, the Gassers played exclusively as members of the Class D level Central Texas League. The Gassers played the final three seasons of the Central Texas League before the league permanently folded, winning the league championship in the shortened 1917 season. The 1922 Mexia Gushers followed the Gassers in minor league play.
The Western Arkansas League was a short–lived minor league baseball league that played in the 1924 season. The six–team Class D level league consisted of franchises based exclusively in Arkansas. The Texarkana Shine-Oners were a minor league baseball team based in Texarkana, Texas in 1906. Preceded and succeeded by 1905 and 1909 Texarkana teams without a nickname, as was common in the era, the three Texarkana teams played as members of the Class D level North Texas League in 1905, Arkansas-Texas League in 1906 and Arkansas State League in 1909. The three teams were each managed by Robert Shelton and hosted minor league home games at Texas League Park.
The Terrell Red Stockings were a minor league baseball team based in Terrell, Texas. In 1907, the Red Stockings played a partial season as members of the Class D level North Texas League, hosting home games at Gill Park before the league disbanded during the season. Terrell was in last place when the North Texas League folded.
The Waco Tigers were a minor league baseball team based in Waco, Texas. Between 1892 and 1905, the Tigers played in four non–consecutive seasons as members of the Texas League, with three of the seasons being partial seasons of play. The Waco Tigers hosted home minor league games at Padgitt Park until 1905, when the Tigers began play at Katy Park. The Tigers were succeeded by the 1906 Waco Navigators, who continued Waco's membership in the Texas League through 1919.
The Greenville Midlands were a minor league baseball team based in Greenville, Texas. In 1905, the Midlands became the first minor league team hosted in the city. Greenville played as members of the Class D level North Texas League, finishing in second place as the league folded during the season. The Midlands hosted minor league home games at Haines Park and Hunt County Fairground Field, which was used for Sunday games.
The Texarkana Tigers were a minor league baseball team based in Texarkana, Arkansas. In 1913 and 1914, the Tigers played as members of the eight-team Class D level Texas-Oklahoma League, winning the 1914 league championship in the final season of the league. The Tigers hosted minor league home games at Texas League Park.
The Clarksville Reds were a minor league baseball team based in Clarksville, Arkansas. In 1924, the Reds played the season as members of the Western Arkansas League, a six–team Class D level league. The Western Arkansas League permanently folded after its one season of minor league play. Clarksville hosted minor league home games at the Clarksville City Ballpark.
