Gash-Barka is an administrative region of Eritrea. It is situated in the south-west of the country, bordering the Anseba region to the north, and the Maekel (Central) and Debub (Southern) regions to the east; the country of Sudan lies to the west and Ethiopia to the south.
The central region, is an administrative region of Eritrea, located in central Eritrea. The region was formed on 15 April 1996, from the historical province of Hamasien. The region is located on the central plateau, and sits at an average of about 2,250 metres (7,380 ft) above sea level. It contains Asmara, the capital and largest city of Eritrea.
The provinces of Eritrea existed since pre-Axumite times and became administrative provinces from Eritrea's incorporation as a colony of Italy until the conversion of the provinces into administrative regions. Many of the provinces had their own local laws since the 13th century.

Serejeqa is a town in the Anseba Region of Eritrea. It is located about 20 km northwest of Asmara on the asphalt road to Keren, which in turn lies roughly 75 km away. The town is situated on the ridge of the Eritrean highlands. It is the upper endpoint of a gravel-road that traverses the eastern escarpments and has its other endpoint in Shebah, on the low-lying plains at the foot of escarpments. With this gravel road, Serejeqa connects the north-western part of the highlands, including the city of Keren with the Red Sea and the port of Massawa. This route can be traveled without having to pass through the congested capital and largest city Asmara or use the equally congested mountain-segment of the Asmara-Massawa asphalt road. Instead, the gravel road beginning in Serejeqa on one end, connects to the She'eb-Gahtelai asphalt road, which in turn unites with the less congested lowland part of the Massawa asphalt road, just 35 km from Massawa itself. Due to its proximity and connections to Asmara, Serejeqa also functions as a suburb of the capital, although it is not part of the metropolitan region of the capital.

Hazega is a Historical village in Central Eritrea located in the Maekel/Central Region or the former province of Hamasien. It is located approximately 10 mi (16 km) north-west from the capital city, Asmara, and 50 mi (80 km) south-east of Keren. It is an entirely Christian village inhabited by the Tigrinya speaking people of Eritrea. The village is located some kilometres west of Emba Derho close to the Anseba river and east of Tsazega at an altitude of 2,323m. In the village there one and among the oldest Orthodox church's of Eritrea (Debre-Tsion kidisti Mariam- was built by Tesfatsion with his family.

Oriental Orthodox Churches are the churches descended from those that rejected the Council of Chalcedon in 451. Despite the similar name, they are therefore a different branch of Christianity from the Eastern Orthodox. Oriental Orthodoxy consists of several autocephalous and autonomous jurisdictions holding a single set of beliefs and united in full communion. However, they each have their own separate rites, and there are significant differences between their respective practices. Thus, there is more internal diversity of practice among the Oriental Orthodox than among the Eastern Orthodox.
